I am interested in anybody's opinions and experiences about this trail. I may be interested in doing a multi day ride on this trail, in the future.
It goes from Montrose, CO to Moab, UT.
Best time in spring and or summer to do it? Which direction is preferred? ETC??
Thanks for your input. :steer::wrench:🌞🌦️🎪🎪⛰️🏕️⛺??

I have some info from a local in Ridgeway. I wanna do it!!

Here’s what our buddy said:
We did it near the end of June. We took four days to get there and camped out each night. We took our time because we wanted to. You could probably do it in a day but where is the fun in that.

We went from Montrose to Moab just because we were already here. The closer you get to Moab the rougher the road gets. There is never anything technical it’s just a fun trip.

Rimrockertrail.org is an excellent resource. Their maps are excellent, I send them to people all the time. The biggest part is that it shows places you can get off trail if you had to, to refuel, buy food or for whatever reason. We never got off the trail the whole time and the only fuel stop we made was one spot where you go through a little town as part of the route anyway.

Lots of places to stop and camp along the way. Some big enough for a largish group some small enough for one vehicle. Very little traffic until we got closer to Moab.

I ran it with the camper few years back. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. Not sure if it's worth a return visit for me :hmm: @lurch and I ran it from Moab to Montrose, then ended up in Ouray for our annual campout.

Thanks for this information. I have no definite plans as of now, but would want to have plenty of time to do some of the side trips off this main trail.
Need to study up on options along the way.

We did that trail a few years back and it is very easy. I would argue that fall would be the best time to run it. It will be cooler and there are a ton of aspen trees. We missed the colors change by a week. There is one creek crossing that could be sketchy, if there is a lot of runoff in the spring. Fun drive.
