Hi All:

Thinking of switching to 17 inch wheels. Any suggestions as to inexpensive, serviceable models? I'm used to cheap steel 15 inch rims. :D

Thanks much!

Alan

I chose FJC wheels because they are pretty common and seem to do the trick until I can afford some Hutchisons.

Hi All:

Thanks for the response Dan. I was unable to find these $69 17 inch wheels on the Summit Racing website - can you provide a link or part number?

Thanks very much!

Alan

summitracing.com has them for 69 each

Hi All:

Thanks for the response Bruce. Those FJC wheels look to be cast aluminum, no?
What is the back spacing on those rims? Are you running wheel spacers?

BTW - I love how your BJ74 turned-out!

Thanks!

Alan

Hi All:

Thanks for the tip "Isotel."

Are *all* FJC wheels 17 inch?? How wide are those FJC steel rims?

Thanks much!

Hi All:

Chad, thanks for the response!

Got a part number for those Discount Tire wheels?

What width are these rims? Back spacing??

Thanks!

I got some from Discount Tire. I think they were $73 each.

Hi All:

Thanks for the part number and link Dan!

Unfortunately, with 4.5 inch back spacing these rims would require wheel spacers, which I would like to avoid.

Are there any inexpensive 17 inch wheels with like a 3.0 to 3.5 inch back spacing?

Thanks!

Alan

pretty much all 17" wheel have a high backspacing.. Its just somthing you have to deal with..

im pretty sure all FJC's have 17" wheels, and all are 4.5" backspace.. I Run 3" Spacers in order for my 37's to clear, but most Cruisers will need 1" or 1.5"

i think they are 8" wide.. I plan on Adding Weld on Beadlocks to add some width to them!

I think the FJC wheels (except the TRD 16") are 17x7.5 with 5.25" BS... Awful really but I used 60 series axles and the Sky wide track kit. My thinking was that the hyper BS wheels on wide axles would save bearings and keep the Federales off my butt (didn't work) on the overland expeditions and when I switch to some 15X10 2.5 BS wheels I'll be a foot wider for harder events and trails.

You can order the cragar wheels from summit in any backspace you want but they will only do them in black. I Ordered the soft 8's about 2 months ago got them in about 2 weeks. They were $417 to the door with 3.5" bs.

What size spacers did you use to install the FJ Cruiser Alloy wheels. Are they 17" ? Thanks:beer:

I used 1.5" spacers on the back and the SKY kit on the front.

I thought they were 5.5 on 6 lug bolt pattern? Do the you need the extra 1.5" on each side up front? Will these fit on the HZJ the same. I guess the spacers must change from 5.5 to 5.25 bolt circle? Thanks:beer:
