It's what we like to see. Choice of 6 cyl BMW diesel or petrol.

Been reading a lot about this vehicle this morning. It certainly sounds great, and the exterior is fantastic to my eye. I like they are even doing stuff like running pre-wiring - lot of thought gone into it it seems.

Bit concerned about the BMW bits though:)

They have encouraging marketing wordsy stuff. I hope that it lands in a competitive pricing program.

Over a friendly pint at the Grenadier pub in London, car enthusiast and experienced adventurer Jim Ratcliffe, INEOS Chairman, identified a gap in the market for a stripped-back, utilitarian 4x4. This became our vision — to build a no-nonsense 4x4, engineered to overcome all conditions and withstand the daily punishment you put it through. For those who depend on a vehicle as a hard-working tool, wherever they are in the world.

We’re now turning that vision into a reality. More than 200 of the world’s best engineers are deep into the task at hand, building the Grenadier from the ground up. With every decision based solely on utility. No design for design’s sake. Function over form, every step of the way. Built on purpose.

Interesting gas tank? What else would that be?

I do like the idea of an ultra-rich guy saying 'take my money and build the perfect 4WD without the added expensive luxury crap'.

That kind of thinking (and deep pockets to fund the quest) has the potential to create a great vehicle, hoping it delivers.

Is bringing it to the US part of their gameplan?

USA is where its supposed to be sold/marketed first, that and Europe according to the stuff I've read online..

I like everything about it.

It's a beautiful, simple, capable, purposeful, beam-axled, coil-sprung, barn-doored, high-payload, no-frills modern utility wagon that will start in the mid $40Ks U.S.

How long since a wagon like this was available in the U.S.?

It's a dream platform for remote touring. Homerun.

Soooooooo, basically they are building what amounts to a 70-Series wagon:meh:

I'm already wondering if I can fit my ARB drawers in the back!

I think they're aiming for the gap in the market that opened when the Defender exited. Yes, right now only the LC70 is left. The Patrol has gone soft, the G-wagen too...

Let's just say that I'm not overly optimistic that they will be able to design, build, produce, import (if not built in the US), meet all the appropriate testing and regulatory hurdles required by the EPA, DOT, NHTSA, etc, not be a complete and total POS, and still come in at an "affordable" price point.

I'll believe it when I see it.:meh:

Me neither.

Its definitely coming to Australia in 2022 in wagon and later a dual cab and ute. I was hoping to see some interior shots, but havent found any after looking at 3-4 videos. It must be the last part they are still working on.

If by “70 series” you mean ”it has 2 axles and 4 tires” then yes. ”Minor differences” would include 21st century design, full coil 5 link suspension, correct track, old school Defender looks, removable doors, etc. The main feature of the 70 series is its brutal reliability and longevity. Doubt Ineos can get close to that. I’d also be surprised if they could keep it “affordable”. Hope they pull it off and it makes it to the USA (which will never happen with the 70 series).

Besides, it’s named after a bar!

It'll use the BMW B58 engine (6 cyl. petrol engine - successor to the N55) or the B57 6cyl diesel. I'd like to see the B57 made available in the US, but likely not since it would require the DEF system to meet CARB emission requirements.
They are shooting for minimal and anti-frivolous field reparable everything. A DEF system is counter to that logic. They might petition for not having to comply based on low sales compared to the whole market. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
