First post on this incredible forum that I have often enjoyed reading. We make our home on the side of Flagstaff mtn in Boulder Colorado. We are just getting into Land Cruiser's and are looking for a our first trail rig.

We had a nicely built '95 Limited 4runner that we did some basic Off Road mods and had a blast driving. I used to race Mountain bikes and we used that truck to get us all over the west.

Unfortunately it made the ultimate sacrifice last year and saved my life last year. Got into some nasty black ice on HWY 93 went over a hillside rolled/flipped 3 times and walked away!

Needless to say my family will ONLY being driving in Toyota trucks from now on. Insurance was semi-kind to us but as you all know you never get credit for all of the stuff you have done to the truck.

We are now searching for a 100 series Land Cruiser or newer 4runner to do some daily driving in but to also use for trails up in the mountains. Nothing to extreme needed but something that has a lift, good tires and bumpers.

I would be willing to travel the US to pick up the right truck. Send anything you have my direction to rootscc@mac dot com

What we are looking for:
100 series Land Cruiser or 2000+ 4runner

miles under 200k
built for mild/moderate trail use
good interior
solid maintenance history
$15k or under
hopefully close to Colorado

Thanks for any leads!
Let the good times roll.

An option for you: Find the right 100 series LC in and around Denver metro, and then take it down to Golden and have Slee build it just the way you like it. Unlike many, you've got a great resource practically in your backyard.

I also saw a clean 99 Runner Limited with a factory rear locker on the Denver Craigslist today.

solid idea

thanks for the idea. Slee is incredible. I would do it but I have heard that you can usually get more truck for your money by buying something 'built rather than doing it yourself.

The 4runner was a nice one. I checked it out. Only deal was the guy had no real maintenance records, which is a big deal for me.

There is a 4runner I am heavily considering but there is something about that 100 series cruiser that just won't leave me alone!

thanks again for the suggestion and it's one i might end up doing.

I wish you luck looking, we will be selling out '97 4runner in the comming months to upgrade to a 100 series. Bother are great trucks, we need the space (3rd child ont he way.) That is the only reason we are selling the 4runner.

You should be able to find a very nice 4runner for $15K or under, probably built rather well. However, I seriously doubt you will find a 100 series that is built for that price. Especially with full records that check out and no issues at all.

I am a ways away from you, but if you are interested at all in a '97 let me know. (See my sig for basic details. 165K miles and trouble free, a few asthetic things, but thats it!)

Good luck and do all the research you can b/f you decide to buy something. It will usually save you alot in the long run. Here for cruisers and yotatech for 4runners, or at least those are the sites I use.
