Had to put the third row seats back into my '99 LC after being volunteered to drive a group of 7 women to a party about 90 miles away (had seats removed to improve mpg). It occured to me that I had never had more than 4 total people in my LC at all.
Though horsepower isn't everything, the facts that I have around 230hp, the engine was upgraded to 235hp soon after, and now at 265hp all seemed to make me think my output was dated and inadequate (especially compared to the competitors)!
I can proudly say that my LC seemed accelerated/braked just like normalf with all that extra weight! And I do mean EXTRA weight because some of those girls were heavy lol.
I drove an '03 Jetta GL for a day while getting tires rotated and oil change (i'm at 83k miles) done to the LC and had to drive to a few nearby cities for classes. I definitely felt like I was in the twilight zone when I went to fill it up with what I thought would be enough gas to get me home---about 45 miles. This just proves that I am SUV-ified: I started to push the Premium button, then realized I didn't need to! Then I put 4 gallons in. You can imagine my surprise when I saw the fuel gauge needle go up to almost half a tank!
The dealership definitely got it back with more gas in it than when it was loaned to me. Anyway, I definitely see a fun little coupe or sedan parked in my garage sometime soon (next to a Cruiser, of course).
