Impex canceling orders? (4 Viewers)

Probably the best thread for this.

TLDR: Be prepared to wait.....order from PartSouq (or elsewhere) if you need parts quickly.

I did order and receive the 105 steering gear from them.

I made 4 more orders of small parts, and waited until all the items were in stock for those 4 separate orders. I think it took about 3-4 weeks for that to happen.

Some of those parts were only available from Impex. I could have ordered the rest from PartSouq, but I thought I would save on shipping and order from just one place.

With Impex, you then assemble a "Package" for those items and pay for shipping, which I did. It has been now 5 days since the "Package" was assembled and shipping was paid for. It says "waiting for shipping"

I just reached out to them about ETA for shipping and they said "First Come, First Serve."

So, don't be in a rush if ordering from Impex. 😏 My advice, use it for those hard to get parts, but order elsewhere if you need parts quickly. I have parts ordered and delivered from PartSouq in less time than mine has been "waiting for shipping" at Impex.

I figured out that they get an order about every 10 minutes, based on my order numbers and the time I made them.

I mean, I was happy Impex wasn’t a scam :smokin:

If you are price shopping to save >$500 from PartSouq or another source, shipping time = “did I get it for the price I paid”. I looked at a few other bits of the steering I needed like a new power steering pump and none of these sources was cheaper than buying out of the U.S.

I’ve seen quite a bit recently where PartSouq is priced in line with the ‘discount’ parts sellers in the U.S. The party may be slowly ending.

I personally think you shouldn't really be price shopping when ordering over seas. I think the difference generally is negligible. But, I do think you should be aware that it could take forever, you could get lucky, you could order the wrong part, you could wait forever to have your order canceled.

Just a lot to be mindful of. It's not like calling cruiser outfitters, talking to someone in English who can guide you and make sure you are getting the right part, then have it sent out that day with tracking....

I would 100% rather buy from Cruiser outfitters or another trusted stateside vendor, but the price differences can be huge on some parts, and if I'm not in a rush, I may order from partsouq or amayama. I'd love to buy all my oem parts from my local dealer, but they just aren't pricing competitively, and have zero incentive to do so.

I can't remember if it was this thread or another, but by the time I paid shipping and customs, not giving time any monetary value, my new gearbox from partsque was so close to the same price as cruiser outfitters. Just saying....

And the pitman arm they (partsque) sent me doesn't fit the new box, that's a whole different story that I'm still trying to get them to acknowledge and give me a credit or some form of refund.

There are plenty of people on this site outside the US though, and domestic prices for parts differ greatly between region, while these international sellers are consistent worldwide, shipping costs and import taxes notwithstanding. They act as a great leveller in that way. Here in Australia, almost always, if I want to buy a Toyota part, I'm paying 3-4x the price through dealers than partsouq, let alone impex. There are no third party domestic sellers I know of here at all that offer lower prices, the only ones who do sell genuine Toyota here (IE, terrain tamer) are more expensive than the dealer prices, often 50% or so, and I assume just order their parts from the local dealer. We really get bent over a barrel.

I've had positive results with partsouq everytime shipping to Australia.

When I was buying through a local dealer, it would take me at least 1½hours by the time I go there, give the parts guy alist of post numbers, try and explain when they can't get past my VIN being irrelevant, steer them through parts diagrams, explain the difference between a 93 cruiser uni joint, and a Camry muffler bearing, pay in full before they'll place an order, then get told 10-15 business days. Then, I have to go pick it up.

Pay in full includes, the Toyota tax, import duties, GST (basically sales tax), at full retail. Haven't found a dealer yet who'll discount parts prices without you being a registered automotive repair business.

Partsouq etc, sure, you've got to be self sufficient, and it takes time to search past numbers. I do that anyway if I'm going through Toyota.
Partsouq consistently deliver half way round the world faster than Toyota Australia can ship one state away.
And keep the purchase amount below the customs duty threshold, even with shipping, is typically 30% cheaper
There's been times I've driven all the way across the city (1.5-2hrs each way) to a terrain tamer dealer, because their guys typically know what's what, and they have a stock of parts, so you can get a bunch of common parts, and kits on no notice.

I wish i would have found this thread sooner. i bought a $300+ item from IMPEX ( 98-99 fusebox 82720-60043) , waiting a week or 2 before my order was cancelled because the part was out of production. No mention of this when I placed the order. Waited a few more weeks, watching my credit card statement for a refund, because my Impex account said I was going to be refunded.

I tried emailing them several times, which is very difficult to navigate through their stupid interface, because they do not accept emails directly.
I fianlly got ahold of someone, and they said they ccould only do a partial refund because they can't refund transaction fees. So I was about about over $30 through no fault of my own, and had to wait nearly 2 months to get what was left of my money back.

So I will not be using them again, lesson learned.

Japan4x4. No one beats Dave's prices or his service.

Bringing this thread back since it’s been 8 months since the last post. What’s the best place to get one of these 105 steering boxes? IMPEX now shows the part as unavailable (not out of production), it just seems they do not want to ship these things. Partsouq and Amayama are showing P/N 44110-60212 as $2,000+ shipped to the US.

Now kinda regret not getting one when people were buying them for nearly half this.

Might be worth your time finding a used and get a rebuild kit with the 105 sector shaft.

Adds up fast, you can easy be in it 12 to $1500.00 and then it still used.

Yeah exactly. I have a brand new one with the 105 shaft in my car that I had redhead build. I just want a spare one. Plus it would be good info if anyone knows a cheap place for others looking to buy a 105 box.

I messaged IMPEX about why these 105 steering boxes are no longer available to order from them. They responded with saying this part cannot be ordered in Japan.

I am showing Amayama as $1452.15 + $130.07 shipping to the USA. Amayana will show two shipping locations and you need to pick Japan for the favorable Yen/US Dollar conversion.... This is for the steering box and pitman.

This is for 4411060212 and 4541160360

For the record, I paid $1211.09 and $56.98 for a total $1268.07 from Impex. Can't remember shipping cost and if it was higher or the same as Amayama.

keep in mind you have to pay duty tax on top! That's what got me

In the end I was almost the same price delivered and after all the fees, not to mention the time it took, I should have supported a local vendor and ordered from cruiser outfitters . Just my $.02

How much were the duty fees? I checked several Toyota sites and it’s listed as being somewhere in the range of $4,000-$5,000 before tax and shipping. Even if you bought it during those 25% off Toyota sales you’re still paying WAY more than Partsouq or Amayama.

Amayama is showing $1,878+ $165 shipping to US.

Where did you find that price?

When I put the number in their search box, and before I hit search🔎, it gives me two drop down choices. This is desktop, not mobile. The second bottom choice also includes the pitman arm.
