Any update on Impex shipping? How long between order and arrival?
I ordered a transmission mount for my 80 from IMPEX and it was delivered in about 2 weeks give or take. This was end of July.

A few days after placing the order i got the same email as the others where I had to confirm that I’m ok with delayed shipping. If I didn’t respond to the email and checked off the box on their site my order would’ve been cancelled. Actual shipping was like $2 more than original estimate for FedEx Exonomy.

Saw this thread, and currently have an order with impex. I ordered a plastic windshield cowl for my 200. They originally quoted me $60 to ship the part. A week later I got a new message asking for $210 more to ship the part?

Is this normal? It’s plastic, but it is the length of the windshield, so I get it being a weird part. I’m very hesitant since the last part I ordered (a pinion and ring gear kit) was not packaged in any way to protect it during shipping and came damaged. I basically had to eat about $350 in that transaction for a couple paper weights, so I’m not excited about the prospect of paying $500 for a part from them with essentially no recourse if it comes damaged for a part I can get at a US dealer for $900. It seemed more worth the risk when the part was $300, plus was about the same amount as the credit they applied to my account for the damaged parts.

I’d be concerned about shipping a part that size and fragility from pretty much anywhere. Impex quotes a standard freight rate and then adjusts to actuals so that’s not surprising.

Partsouq does bombproof shipping but I have also found recently that many parts are same cost as US discount shipping dealers.

For example, I was expecting typical savings on a power steering pump, there was no difference and that’s the type of part you’d expect a benefit.

I use Partsouq for everything that makes sense through them. Impex has more parts though, and as stated usually for cheaper. I agree, I’ve never had any trouble with parts from Partsouq.

I guess this just confirms that I should be worried about getting the part from Impex.

If it's fragile, go partsouq, or local dealer.

Have been working for a freight company, and am amazed so much stuff makes it to customers unscathed!

Any impex users know how to handle the following? Their page said inventory on part was available when I ordered, now says not available. If I cancel the order I gotta eat the $1200 or take a credit?

You can apply for a refund once your account is in credit.

Just as quick follow up Impex accounting replied and stated my refund is pending less any Paypal fees. They were very polite, punctual and responsive. I'll follow up to confirm refund hits but all appears okay.

Thank you all.

Since I posted in this thread as well, I’ll tie up the loose end of, I ended up paying the extra $200 to complete shipping of my cowl. It arrived quickly and well packaged. No issues. Still got the part for about $300-400 less than a US dealer.

After contacting the accounting department at Impex they politely refunded my card and apologized for the steering gearbox showing available when no longer was. Off to Partsouq and $1,000 poorer.

I would gladly order from Impex again.
