Well for those of you not in the know we are moving closer to ONSC. We are stationed in Savannah GA and are just under 4 hours to both Charlotte and Fayetteville. With that being set in stone and flight school finally complete I can get started on the FJ43 finally.

Sadly we are moving into a very strict HOA area and the garage is only big enough for small projects that don't involve a ton of mess and space.

First I need to pay my Dues again (as much as I perp on this forum I should have paid anyway).

Second I need to get my lone land cruiser up and going. It is currently rusting away on the Oregon Coast. Thanks to Al's eagle eye I just picked up a rebuilt OM617 and adapter. After a talk with Darin, he will be doing some work to get it ready for the STR as soon as I ship it out here.

I will need y'alls help in deciding how far to really go and to keep me inline on this. But none the less Deirdre and I are really looking forward to making at least the STR and a couple of URE rides.

If anyone needs a place in Savannah we have two extra queen size beds and would love the company. There is plenty down here to keep you busy for a few days that is for sure.

who are you....... :flipoff2:

Andrea is already planning on calling D to schedule us a trip down to you

Jason, Congrats on finishing flight school, and Welcome Back.. Hope to see you all soon at a ride.

Jason. I do not know u but welcome back. I think the whole club should come visit you for st pattys day in savanah. My wife has always wanted to do st pattys day n savanah. She's crazy boston irish!

Thank you all and I'm looking forward to it. I'm not sure out house is big enough to put a whole club up overnight but we could try :).

Yep I will be at Hunter Army Airfield in downtown Savannah.

Working on getting the FJ43 out here but the freight quote just made me crap myself. If I can get it done sooner than later I'll be making rides up there in no time.

St Pattys day is fun. It happens to also be my birthday and I went there earlier this year with a bunch of freinds and it was a blast.

Welcome back man! Good to have ya back.

Welcome back to our favorite tree-hugger! ;) I look forward to seeing you again some time soon, and meeting the li'l guy!

Welcome back and congrats on finishing flight school!

x2 on uship.... if you can be flexible on time it can be a great way to go. NY to NC was 416 bux for me.

I did try u-ship. If I can get my brother to take it to LA California it is only 999. But then that would be another 1K in fuel for him to do it. But for some reason 1900 seems to be the quote from North Bend Oregon. Straight line difference isn't any different really but I guess the route and the out of the way location really ads up. I'm not in a huge rush but would like to get it out to Darin for the diesel swap sooner than later so I can tinker with it before the STR.

If somone can explain to me why diesel is 64 cents a gallon more right now that would be great. Doesn't help that 3 of 4 cars in my fleet are diesel. It is totally negating the fuel mileage benifits. Also makes shipping extremely expensive. It is a conspiracy.

Don't remind me of the price of diesel please.

When i bought my dually back in 98 it was only 56 cents a gallon. 20 bucks would more than fill my truck.

How many miles round trip would it be ?

I ask cause it would give me an excuse to see my old man over on that side of the world. And some of the rest of my family.

I'd say about 6100-6200 give or take a few

So at 15mpg you would use
406-413 gallons of fuel

Yep,

It is just under 3K miles there so 6K miles round trip. If it works out let me know. I know it won't be a lot cheaper but the more I save the more I can pay you :D. :princess: was really cool with getting this together and doing it right and then she saw the shipping quote and said "I can see how this is going to go" and changed her mind. The battle to waste every dollar I've ever made on cars continues.

Man, that would be about 1400.00 to 1500.00 in fuel alone now.

Something tells me the better half would tell me to fly to see my father. NOT. Not with all the flight BS going on.

Hhhhmmmmm....

I drove from the nc coast to Sacramento Ca and I didn't spend that much in Diesel. I hauled a empty car trailer there and a 40 on the way back. Or maybe I did.....
