Tomorrow my Jeep friend and I (76 FJ40) will be meeting at 7 am at Circle K at 35th Ave and Happy Valley. He says we are going to Sheeps Crossing. Personally I don't know where that even is but I just like to wheel around and see new stuff.

If anyone is interested, we will definitely be there in the morning.

My cruiser is blue and my name is Chris in case you care......

Missed out on this one... sheeps bridge is where we held our first cleanup as a club. How was the trash out there? We may have to go back and check it out. It' been almost exactly a year since we did our cleanup.

Not too much trash.....Great spot though to hang out. My buddy brought his repelling stuff. The bridge was good for that. Too bad nobody went. Lots of fun!!!!

I was there, but probably before you. I was going to post, but MUD wasn't back up before I left. Spent Saturday night at the CCC Campground sleeping in the back of the LC with my head sticking out the tailgate - beautiful stars.

Sunday morning, up before dawn and continued up FR24 to FR269 down to the bridge. I saw a pack (herd?) of javelinas cross the road, a first time for this new AZ resident.

I tried to find the hot springs mentioned in the "Arizona Backcountry Adventures" book, and found a pvc pipe dumping warm water into a muddy ditch in the middle of some reeds - not quite what was described. Did a little hiking around the bridge, very cool; I took some pictures and hope they turn out well.

Sorry I missed you! Like I said, I was going to post up, but MUD was still down and I was itchin' to get out of the city.

You needed to dig deeper into the reeds. There is a steel tank down close to the waters edge. At least there where it was the last time I looked.

Ah nuts, I guess that means I'll just *have* to go out again before too long and have another look.

yeah the tub was there, it was just heavily covered by the reeds. Next time you head out post up, and if I can I will go.....

IMO I would say nicer. You cross the water in the beginning a couple of times go up and around Chalk mountain, parallel the river and it ends at the bridge. Most of the year you can cross the river at the bridge but you may want to walk/study it first.

I went the way that Landcruiser Phil described. You get to cross the Verde a couple of times. It was pretty deep too!!! That made it fun. Good views all around.
