I am trying to hookup the HuddExpo Toyota style fog lamp switch to run a pair of driving lights and I encountered this unused plug just taped on top of my factory dimmer harness…can’t figure out what it was for or if I can repurpose it for any of the connections I need to make.

FWIW, I am running this as a ground-trigger switch instead of having 12V+ go through the firewall.

So I think I only need a ground and power from the dimmer for the backlight.

TIA.

This is the switch I’m trying to wire in, except I am trying to send ground to the relay instead of +

I figured it out so I wanted to circle back and let folks know in case they are interested in using this switch, especially in a negative/ground trigger configuration.

Since I was using a negative/ground trigger, I had to deviate a bit from the wiring diagram for the switch.

I swapped the polarity on the Green leads, this way I pass ground to my relay and still get the indicator when it’s on.

The purple ground was paired with the brown + for the dimmable backlight.

I connected it to the following:

Brown + to Pin 1 on the dimmer

Purple Ground to Pin 3 on the dimmer

Green Battery + lead to chassis ground in the driver’s footwell

Green Ground to the Black lead on the “mystery harness” - it’s 12V+ and ignition switched

Purple + to Relay, to trigger the relay by grounding it

Everything works exactly as expected.
