Driving my father's HighSlander the other day.

Turn-signal arm & headlight switch looks familiar, simple, and similar to the one on the 80s. The HighSlander's however have the driving light switch as a separate `knob' on the arm. Wondering if the the turn-signal-headlight-switch-arm for the HighSlander would work in the 80? Just grab that extra wire or two for the driving light knob and use for the off-road lights?

good luck! Something tells me inside the column is where the similarities would end.

Or are you talking rigging the new arm on the original base?

Just the new arm to the base attachment on the 80 column. I would assume (and don't off the top of my head know) that the arm and attachment point are boltable; if I broke the arm I shouldn't have to replace the whole column (of course)...

But don't know if there are ``fusable links'' on the wires that go into the arm for the light switch(es) or something of the like that.

Why not go with the OEM aux light switch? Gotta be cheaper than a whole stalk.

I have one. I funny international one at that with a big orange dot on it :) I just thought it'd be cool if it was literally a bolt-in with an extra wire to be used to switch extra lights.

Moj means Toyota OEM but from your description I think you mean light maker oem. Fog lights were an option in other places for the 80 so there is a nice factory dash switch. You can get the switch from Slee or I think MOT had one for sale used on the for sale board here a while back.

Now what I would like is a factory two position aux light switch to work on the two way PIAA's that came with my truck.

semlin,

Thank you for thinking of me. ;)
Indeed I still have one or two used ones around, if that's what you want, 3fj40.

Is there such an animal?
It would have to be for H4 driving lights with low/high setting, right? I'm not sure if vehicles, at least in Japan, were ever manufactured with low/high headlights AND low/high driving lights (I'm probably wrong, again).

I think someone from the LCOOL80(?) e-mail list (John E. Davies?) that had installed something like IPF switches in some blanks on the left side of the steering wheel. Not sure if he frequents here or not. His site had pics and stuff, too.

Anyway... FWIW, I guess ;)

I have never actually figured out why my piaas are dual beam or what they are supposed to be used for. One is a yellow light that I assume is a fog light. The other is a bright white beam like adding an extra high beam. It is rare that I drive in fog or in pitch darkness so I almost never take the covers off them.

You mean people actually wire those things up. I thought they were only made to look cool on ARBs.
