ID this please- clicking behind guage cluster in 55 (1 Viewer)

Got my '72 55 running and wouldn't you know something else is acting up. I am hoping this is an easy fix. I have figured out what is clicking when the key is on. If the lights are on they also flick when this clicks. This just started yesterday. It pretty much clicks about every five seconds or so. It clicks and then clicks off. Makes a click-ping sound.

It is this piece that is circled in yellow. I have also taken it off the pig to get a better look at it. Do you know what this is? Do they go bad ? Did i do something to make it go bad? Any help would be apprecitated.

Thanks LJ. I am taking it apart and "cleaning" it up. Has some scoring on it. Is this something that I need to replace? Any idea why it would be clicking even though I am not messing with the rear window?

Got it fixed. Thanks LJ. Happy times again. Cleaned it up and stopped the dash pad cover from forcing the rear window switch in the up position. Yeah....that just happened.
