i want to build my own multi use expedition trailer

i have been thinking about picking up a used tent trailer and swap out the axle tube so i can use land cruiser wheels of the same size i run on my fj62 , but started looking at it and it may be cheaper just to buy the back half of a mini truck and go that route , i could also build it from scratch i can get the frame rails thru my employer .I want the trailer to be multi use i was thinking some sort of platform on top of a utility trailer with a tent much like the roof top tents available , i could convert the big wall tent i have .It has to be able to carry enough supplies for my me and three females .i would also like to have the option to carry either a canoe or other small boat , i may carry a zodiak for the convenience . i will likley do some old deactivated logging roads , but wont be running anything bigger than 31's .light weight will be important but it will not trump price , i would hope to build it under $1000 .any one have any idea's or pictures / links . thanks kevin .

i would scratch the mini truck half and build your own tub. Something that can have jerry cans on the sides.
Having a swing out tailgate with a built in kitchen and work bench works great but a $1000 probably wont cover it

Oh, I read that when it was posted. That babby ripped. Tough luck but turned out ok. It was loaded.

I'm glad we don't have to worry about crocs when wheeling! At least not around here, although we do get the occasional bear.

Have you looked into a teardrop camper? Could build one to suit what you are looking for.
