But I'm trying to figure out how much I want to spend. I figure once I'm able to do the SOA I'll put on 16" wheels with 35" tires. I may end up needing new tires before then, so I'm thinking if I went ahead and got the 16" wheels it might help lessen the blow of what I'll have to spend for the SOA (which is going to include regearing).

So anyhoo, when the time comes I'm thinking a set of 16x10 steel wheels, and saw a set of Ultras at Les Schweab that look like they'd fit my truck pretty well. Minimum bling, which is good. But anyway, who here runs 16" wheels on their wagon, and how much did you spend for 'em and would you do it again or would you have stuck with 15s?

Look up Stockton Wheel @ stocktonwheel.com. They make customs, and are the sickest! I'm ordering my wheels from there!

The word "custom" makes me think it's gonna be hella expensive...

Especially from Stockton! I've been postponing the inevitable, I need new wheels too and haven't come across anything that I like *and* can afford without going broke.

I'm looking at 15x8" with a custom backspacing, considered Stockton but the price is just out of control, they wouldn't even consider a break for eight wheels.

Looked at a place in Colorado that was recommended by a couple of people, but they couldn't or wouldn't do the backspacing I was looking for. Nobody who does custom backspacing seems interested in other powder coating colors, either, it's white, black or chrome, and I don't like any of those options.

Thoughts or experiences for either Spook or myself?

Spook, 16" or 17" is the way to go with a SOA conversion, it's going to improve the ride.

i am probably going 16x9 or 16x10 for my next set. Stockton said it was actually cheaper for them to MODIFY wheels for me than to make custom ones. So, i am going the retro look. I have a set of 5 factroy 40 series steelies with caps that will be punched out to one of the above sizes and then powdercoated. Still not cheap though, thats why they haven't been sent out yet......

I'm still wanting to know what land Pimp is running on his 86 fj60?

How bout it Landpimp?

I mounted 265/75/16 MT's on some Rock Crawler Type 97 "Soft Eights" earlier this summer. These are black powdercoat, got them for about $60 each including shipping from Independent4x.com.

They're on the Trooper now, but will move to the Pink 60 later this fall after I get some body work done...and clean the interior...and fix the T-case linkage...and get it registered...and (you know the drill!)

I searched e-bay for a couple weeks and ended up with OEM Toyota Tacoma rims, 16x7 IIRC. I love the factory look of them, and they are really beefy. Not as wide as you wanted, but what kid of width are you running on your 35's? 7 might be wide enough? I'm running 33x11.5's on my tacoma rims.

anyone know which size rim or tire creates a setup where you rub the caliper and or the tie rods? i read it somewhere but i do not remember where. i think you rub the caliper if you are less that 3" backspace??

i was considering some newer blingidgy bling 17" tundra/sequia rims, ... not sure if they would work though..

i am running 33x12.5s on 15x8, and its fine. BUT, anything taller and the same width (35x12.5 or 37x12.5) i would want a wider wheel. I still haven't decided between 9" or 10".

I have 32x11.5 15 and they work great on stock no rubbing and I have some sag...

Stockton wheel is expensive and lousy customer service.
Much better options out there

Summit racing has shells and inners for your own custom rims or almost ANY tire and rim shop can get you want you want.

RedCorn -
Are those real beadlocks? I have the fakos & hide whenever someone looks closely at them. Really want Slee beadlocks on stock 60 wheels, unless I can find some 16 or 17" steel Yotas.

And why, oh why, are beadlocks "illegal"?

The only thing holding the tire on is the bolts, which can break. Rockmonsters are DOT approved rims, but use a different method and don't "look" like beadlocks.

BTW, I've never used either...
