did mine (vents, etc) with black bumper paint nearly two years ago. no peeling, no chipping... I also sanblasted first, so that helped...I'll post some flicks this week if I have time...

yeah I actually figured that until i could properly paint it, inside with good paint, that i would have to touch it up everyone in a while.
I have painted many things with the Cheapo WM paint and have not had troubles. My dad once repainted the Wagon Wheels on the old 4runner with the white cheap stuff and it never pealed, but the rust did come through eventually.
UPDATE: I took it out for a drive on a side street that isn't patroled(i don't have license or insurance on it yet) to see how it ran and it runs great and doesnt over heat.
