I rolled backwards downhill. HELP PLEASE

My 2013 made this noise really bad as we live on a steep driveway .
I thought something was broken , really messed up .
So , I just made sure I did not let the car make the noise again , not stopping on incline
Sold it
My 2018 is much better

I'm surprised that Lexus don't have a hill assist feature, I would rather have that than the DAC.

Yeah, definitely not something to worry about. Mine does that on steeper city streets when the weight unloads and the tires are trying for grip that they have, but that the sensors haven't entirely understood as being slightly different from what they had milliseconds ago.

The only questions I'd ask are, what year GX and what condition (alluding to maybe the ABS sensors which aid in traction control are tired, corroded, and/or needing to be replaced), and what are the condition of your tires?

I have no idea what condition my condition is in..oops, child of the 60s .. the condition of the ABS, but I had a mechanic do a pre-purchase inspection and he didnt mention it.
"Brakes are good, tires fair"..there goes those damn lyrics again .. tires are in good condition. "green" per my tire tread depth gauge

, as described in your owners manual as the 'hill-start assist control' system. In my manual the section that describes how this functions is on page 371, might be different for yours.

I don't think the earlier years of GX had a hill-start system, which may explain some confusion on the topic.

Sounds like Hill Start Assist Control and is listed on all brochures and manuals since 2010 model year

FSM says---> Hill-start Assist Control: When the vehicle starts off on a steep hill, hill-start assist control detects the backward descent of the vehicle and performs 4-wheel hydraulic pressure control to reduce the speed of the vehicle.

• Depressing the brake pedal cancels control of the hill-start assist control system.
• The system does not operate when the shift lever is in P or N, or when the vehicle is being driven/rolling back up a slope with the shift lever in R.

Interestingly enough, just from reading that, the whole "helps prevent rolling backwards/maintains position" thing would make me think you DONT roll backwards, as opposed to "kicks in after you've started rolling backwards " which is the way it worked in my case..granted, I cant say how much I rolled backwards due to my panic at hearing the noise and feeling the jolt of presumably the abs locking the brakes, or whatever it does

With respect to Hill Assist - is that a "button"/ option that needs to be engaged, or does it kick in automatically as long as conditions are met?
