I'm looking to replace my 17" stock wheels with black steel wheels. If anyone out there has some to sell or trade PM me and lets talk. If I have to I'll buy new however I'd like to deal with the Discount Tire store that's supports CSC. I can't seem to find out who that is, any help?
Thanks

Can't think of a discount that supports the CSC; myself and several others have had good expierences / deals with Scott at Tire Pros in Scottsdale. PM Sent.

There is a discount down here where Alvin gets a little hook-up. I got my 16" steelies ordered to my specs from them for ~$60/each, maybe less - I can't remember exactly.

X2
Scott at Tire Pros smoked discounts price by $50+ per tire with excellent service on my last set of Nittos. I just put new tires on my trailer and at $70 per tire for everything I didnt even check price anywhere else.

Discount sucks

Thanks All

Seems like I better call Scott in Scottsdale. See what type of smokin' deal I can get on 5 steelies. Needless to say, if the price is right, I'll have some 17" stock aluminum wheels to clear out of my garage. JUST incase anybody needs um.
Thanks Again

Why?

I've already put a couple of small rock burns on the aluminum wheels and really don't want to mess them up any more. Soooo, black steelies seem to be the way to go. Is my thinking on this messed up in your opinion? I'm open for suggestions.

Beat them alloys like a redheaded stepchild!:hillbilly:

Toyota alloys are made with a process that is close to forging, they are very strong and light. They don't crack, chunk like cast wheels, tend to bend like a steel wheel would, but takes a bunch more beating to make it happen when compared to most steel wheels.

If they are the standard FJC wheels, they are very common, can probably pickup a spare set for less than new steels. There are a ton of types that fit, early Tacoma/Sequoia, most Taco, Runner, etc wheels will fit. Watch craigslist.

If your set on steel wheels, I would get stock Toyota steels, from the same source. I don't see the point, the alloys are cheap, strong, lighter so ride better, commonly available, etc? Yes they get torn up, but then it looks like a wheeler, that is what they make spray paint for?:hillbilly:

Good point. And a spray can of black is cheaper then a set of Steelies. I'll have to ponder all this and maybe I DON'T need new wheels. I'll post some pictures of what I end up with. Thanks for your opinion. Got me thinking now. :hhmm:

IMHO, regular shinny black looks tacky, flat holds dirt, satin black looks much better and cleans well. My color of choice would be a dark gray, the color of brake dust!:hillbilly:

I would beat them for a while before painting, once painted they will need touching up more often?

Howdy! I have the same problem, but I figure that at over 10' away, they look pretty good. Post up the damage on your stockers. John

Going to post some pics once I get the new tires mounted. As far as the scratches on the alloys I feel a bit embarrassed after Kevin’s comment, “Yes they get torn up, but then it looks like a wheeler”, since mine are far from looking like a wheeler. LOL Guess I shouldn’t be complaining, yet. I think I’ll leave the alloys on and start looking for some replacements if and when I really tear up a wheel. Pics in a week or so.
