I am planning to put a 4bt cummins in a fj 80 land cruiser iv read so far that the best way to to this swap. Is to use the stock transmission from the 4bt motor and I would need to make a custom cross member for the 4bt transmission.
my question is will I have to look into a trancfircase

if I don't need to look for a transfercase what will I need to boilt in the trancefercase with the new transmission.

Ummm...

1. There are lots of swaps now, read them all in full.
2. My opinion, the best tranny to run is an NV4500, 5 spd manual.
3. You can get an adapter to run the stock t-case behind an NV4500
4. See number 1. Theres only one way to spoon feed this to you and that's in kit form. Otherwise all the info is out there and it's been done, you just need to read.
5. If you have to ask...

thanks guys for the information I am starting out on this project and I can not drive a manual cause I have minimal movement in my leg

I'm not sure what stock 4bt transmission you're referring to then. A518 dodge? 47RH?

Uhhh at that point I'd suggest using a stock toyota auto and just buying the kit to do so.

You have to adapt something some where unless you do axle swaps also. Which leads to gas tank....

Some use the stock toyota auto some a Chevy trans an adapter is needed engine to trans regardless
Cummins uses adapter plates for every application. Then if you use a nv4500 or a Chevy auto you need to adapt to toyota transfer case. As mentioned there are more options of the fj60 split case as they call it with 2wd high option. I have even heard of overdrive gears for in the fj60 gears

I have seen ranger over drives being used as the adapter using a stock cummins application. Like Chevy 4 speed sm465 to toyota 4 speed overdrive unit. Cost of an adapter with more functionality

Lots to research. I spent about 2 years reading and searching before starting my swap. I choose one that fit for me and my family my wife refuses to learn to drive a manual. Not going to lie I like my lazy ness in the morning driving to work. Cup of coffee and just go pedal......

I was wondering if I would have a problem with the gearing of the transmission shift points from the 91 land cruiser . with having the 4bt cummins motor swap?
will the cummins 4bt motor rev to high rpm before the 91 land cruiser transmission shifts ? will the shift points be to low for the 4bt cummins
