Morning Gents-

Can anyone recommend a knowledgeable trustworthy shop in NC that can install suspension, sliders, bumpers etc that I order (from Slee among others). I just cant justify making the drive out to CO (although i have really considered it)

thanks in advance

Schobtime has recently taken his 200 to Trollhole in Simpsonville, SC; they are a Land Cruiser specialists but they typically wrench on the older series. Another member used RubiTrux in Boone, NC to install his suspension and was pleased with their knowledge and service.

Suggest you start with a different assumption/point of beginning. A) Find trusted professional - HFS, Trollhole, etc. B) Agree on build specs/components, C) Let the shop do its job to source components and build your truck.

Most good shops will not just install parts the customer shows up with after buying direct. Lots of good reasons for that.

I will second TollHole in Simpsonville. I have had them do a lot of work on on my 60 and some on my 200 with more to come. They know the 200’s as well as older trucks and have done some significant work on 200 suspension and are in the middle of work on one now. Call Marshall and I think you will be impressed. It’s worth the drive from here in NC.

Thats good information, I appreciate it. Although I trust the info more on here from users and trusted vendors like yourself. But finding a shop that is a knowledgeable as this forum would be fantastic

Like @NC 100 says above, Marshall knows LCs of all generations REALLY well. @Trollhole

If you are looking for shops in NC/SC - Trollhole is the winner! There are also a few good shops in VA - OTRAMM and Iron Pig Off Road

My opinion/advice is worth what you paid for it.....nothing :)

Seriously, there are a lot of smart and experienced members/posters on MUD but some of us are full of poo. As Reagan said, trust but verify. And as noted, I am a vendor, which can be a negative if I have biases that get in the way of objectivity. Remember that people like me have a financial interest in your decisions.

My perspective comes from working with and serving installing shops as a supplier - also, my partner Georg owns a respected Toyota build shop. I have seen first-hand the challenges of running a small/mid-sized independent business and why the business should shun "walk-in parts" for customer builds. Some of the high-points. In any product purchase, elements of success include sourcing the correct component, with all required parts and an experienced shop can help.
  • A good shop adds value by helping the customer select good solutions based upon direct experience, not just word of mouth.
  • Once a kit, component or accessory is identified, it can be ordered most economically. Example: I wanted a Come Up winch and working with my shop (Torfab) we got a winch at good price through a bulk buy. Required coordination, planning and commitment, but I, the shop and other Torfab customers benefitted.
  • In the same vein, a shop can often plan customer builds, purchases and shipping to reduce customer cost. We sell tanks at Cruiser Brothers and many of our shipments are to shop partners/dealers that order two, three or four at a time to meet current and future customer needs. We do not charge for shipping the second, third or fourth tank on a pallet. Cannot speak for other vendors, but shipping adds a lot to some components cost and we like to deliver value.
  • Sometimes things don't work out. Product failure, warranty claims, etc. can result. If you have a warranty claim, the shop can be a good resource for resolution of those issues, as the legal purchaser.
  • In cases what involve additional shop labor to remove, repair, replace the locker, lift, gears, etc., the relationship between the supplier and the shop may include compensation for those labor items when the parts/accessories are purchased through the shop vs. purchased by the vehicle owner.
Suppliers like Cruiser Brothers offer discounts to shops because they help us be more efficient in distributing our products. That discount is factored into the total cost of shop labor when the customer gets their quote and bill from our shop partner. You get a better deal.

Nothing you mentioned is that hard to install, its just nuts and bolts. Instead of spending $ on labor buy the tools and do it yourself. Or if you are already going to spend that much, whats a little more to just ship the truck to Slee
