You may be cutting it real close on rubbing issues with 34's and a lift. All the searchs I did on mud pretty much said that any bigger than 33's with the OME lift would need a one inch body lift. I stuffed my old 31's, front and rear in the wheel wells on a ramp before buying my 33's (after the lift) then measured and I know for sure that 35's would of rubbed bad. I am running 33's with the OME Heavy and clearance is good. Do a search in the 60's section, lots of info.
 
Technically they are 33.75" Even if they do not fit the 62 they most certainly will fit the FJC! I can take the tires on the C and put them on the 62 since they are 33's! I'm just being cautious regarding the axles and potential breakage. I don't wish to become a victim of the broken birf syndrome, well not yet anyway.

Like gumby said leave the front open and you will have no problems. A 60 axle has got to be way stronger than an fjc front end. So if your back upis putting them on the fjc.....
 
I've talked to folks running 35's on the C without issues. They just have to run a wheel spacer to clear some steering components in the front. Either way it looks like I'm golden for now. Let's see what happens when I put this all together. It's just been too cold the past couple of days to wrench on anything! I cant wait until it gets to freezing around here!

pfft, Ive spent the last 2 months in my garage everyother day. Rebuilding the front end, building a center consol, installing dual cases.....

Thats quite a gruesome visual. I hope you at least shave your back to prevent the potential "flash" forest fire!

I was doing the knuckle rebuild on my FJ62 and noticed some surface rust on the knuckle. What are my repair options?

Mine was just as nasty, maybe worse before I did my knuckles. I just cleaned the knuckle real good and hit it lightly with some emory cloth, no pitting at all so I figured no worrys. With the felt and rubber I don't think you need a micro finish.
 
Are you talking about the knuckle or knuckle ball??

If its the knuckle then it doesnt matter.

If its the knuckle ball then.... If its not pitted then you could use some sand paper to remove the surface rust. If it is pitted then you could just run it (my first housing was pitted) and it will leak some gear oil out of the felts. Or some guys fill the pits with a filler (bondo....) and sand it down to the metal.

Just depends on if you care to lube the inside of your tire....
 
I started spraying them down last week and have been doing that as one of my daily rituals. I bought the big gallon can and am a third of the way through it already. I hit a couple of the bolts already with the impact wrench so I'll keep doing that as well.
 
I'm off this weekend, so PM my your address and the day or two you're working, and I might stop by to help turn a wrench or at least check out the new little cruiser.
 
Phil, You probably know this already but make sure you have a torch, a cut off wheel with plenty of extra skinny blades ( i think mine is 4.5") and a 3# hammer. These will be your best friends this weekend!! Don't try to pound anything out that can be sped up by cutting it off. Also, good ear and eye protection.
I had none of the above tools when I helped my brother do his OME lift and it took over 20 hrs!!! IT SUCKED!! I did mine by myself WITH the above tools and was in no hurry to get it done in around 10 hrs. This time I actually enjoyed it.............probably more because it was my own rig.

The lift won't be delivered until next week. In the meantime I really appreciate the generous offers! I'll post up and let you folks know my status. My youngest is going away that weekend so I might wait until the following weekend to do the install. Besides, my oldest son is due in for a couple of weeks leave time then.
 
I finally got a majority of my parts in, just waiting for the birf rebuild parts. Instead of sitting on my hands waiting, I decided to start installing the lift. I had no idea that 19 year old rubber bushings would be a PITA to remove! Between PB Blaster and a torch I was able to get them out! The fronts are now installed and I might have an issue getting it out of the garage since it will be much taller than when it came in! A couple of other issues I encountered. The axle didn't want to sit in the pin. A bit of strapping later it sat down very nicely. In order to get it to sit I had to cut the sway bar link. Since this will be a DD I need to get new longer ones. Anyone know the length I would need? I'm thinking of making quick disconnects for them as well so wheeling would go easier. I'll post pics tomorrow when I get my camera back.
