I have an fj62. I blew a fuse for the windshield wipers not too long ago. I replaced it and the replacement lasted a few weeks. However, it finally blew despite my using a "25" instead of the recommended "20".

This morning I bought a set of fuses, and tried to replace it. The fuse worked for about 10 seconds, then blew. I repeated this process two times. I can't seem to get a fuse to last more than a few seconds, even if I am using the correct resistance.

Has any else had this issue? Any suggestions, if so?

You may be dealing with a short / fault within the steering column and / or switch. Get familiar with the use of a multimeter and see where the continuity (or not) fails. You will need to check the wiring schematic in the FSM and disassemble the cover piece at the top of the steering column to expose the switch at base of the stalk. HTH

Fuses are rated in Amps, which is current, not resistance. Don't put in a higher amp fuse, you may smoke a wire or start a fire.

Check the wiring as the prev poster suggested.

Find the short, or take it to someone who knows how to find it. As stated, putting in a higher rated fuse risks more damage, or worse. .. It could be the wiper motor, though I've never seen or read of one failing.

In the FSM, I believe there are procedures for testing the motor and some troubleshooting.

Thread Revival. Just worked through this for a customer. Went through 2 owners without finding solution. Here are the findings:

Problem- WIPER Fuse blows instantly with ignition keyed on. If vehicle running, fuse insertion would result in engine stopping.

Isolate the problem. I pulled wiper motor plug, washer bottle pump, and T Case Plugs. Short still exists. hmmm

Turns out the NSS (Neutral Safety Switch), right side of Tranmission had some major corrosion. Here is what I found:

sounds crazy but is really obvious if you look at the FSM schematic.
It’s more common on the manual transmission trucks when the reverse light plug gets crunched putting the transmission back in after a clutch job.

Exactly. FSM schematics are Key.
