I really need a great battery charger/booster, one that will actually charge a dead battery from 0 to 13.8 - 14.2 vlts, and be a booster/jump starter. My LX battery was damn dead, DEAD. I boought a lithium booster/starter for $225! Full charged it would not do a thing, not one thing. I used my neighbors huge “autoshop” charger on wheels, let it charge for an hour and it started up no problem, read 14.1. So, I went out and bought a 100 amh charger, and watched it work. It would only charge to 12.1, then shut down. I took it back his am.

Are there any great charger/starter/boosters out there, that really work well?

FYI most boosters require a minimum charge be present on the depleted battery before they initiate a jump start. Not sure what you want is readily available.

I concur with @RET2
You have to long-press a noco in order for it to boost a completely dead battery.

I've had good experiences with Victron equipment and they make a number of chargers that will sense and start charging a 0 charge battery. This one is, however, not a booster.

I have a NOCO jump pack but have not tried the long press @radman mentioned because I would never use a battery that had gone to 0. If it's a lead-acid battery you are attempting to charge from 0, it's a fool's errand because the battery will be damaged such that it will not work well again. You might be able to get some power into it, but get a new one ASAP. A LiFePO4 battery can be discharged to 0 as long as it has a built in battery management system that shuts it down before damage.

When you returned your second charger/booster that only charged to 12.1V, it may have not been the charger's fault. That may be all the battery can do now. The 14.1V from the big charger you tried was probably an artificial number because no lead-acid battery can be charged from 0 to 14.1V in just an hour without damage (too hot).

So, bottom line, I think you should replace the lead-acid battery that went to 0 and then get a NOCO jump pack to keep in the truck. (and don't even let the battery go to 0).

Ok, so the first charger I returned was a NOCO, I don’t remember what size, got it from Wally World for $225. My battery was actually not at 0, but close enough that I couldn’t even unlock the doors with the key fob. When I used the key and op0ened the door, the alarm sounded, so the batt must have had some charge, I guess. However, with the NOCO connected, it would not budge, I couldn’t get anything, not even the ignition chime. My neighbor connected his NOCO, which was a larger one, and nada. We then connected a larger shop charger and actually left it on for about 3 hrs, give or take, not one. The battery was two months new, Autozone Gold. So, I guess I’ll try and exchange it. Mayb they’ll exchange it, mayeb they won’t.

From what little I understand about the lithium batteries (hardly anything), like this LifePro one you suggest, the battery has to be completely charged before being used. This means using a compatable charger and waiting until the batts 100%, ready to go. I’m guessing this means charging it uninstalled, with a stand alone charger? Once this is done nd installed, I’m guessing then the batts good to go from that point.

On the NOCO, which size should I buy? I’m skeptical, since the first one did’nt work. Any suggestions on who to buy the LifePro from? Is there a box store who sells them, or online only? It would be nice to receieve one already fully charged, ready to install and use. Thanks!

To add…I just read that one must use a charger specifically designed for this battery. I’m not seeing anything about LifePro being used as a starting battery, as in common vehicles. I’m not sure how to reference the LX in order to buy a LifePro.

GB 70 should more than be enough but at the price point you payed that may have been what you had. I would suggest you read up on battery properties, sizes and types before spending anymore $.
