Well I am having some mechanical issues. I just noticed I have 3 leaks around the transmission. Some of y'all know I am having some shifting issues and I guess the tranny is at fault. It never leaked before. I drove it around the neighborhood and shifting is worse. The carburator is a 4 barrel Edelbrock. I don't like the 4 barrel and want to replace it with either fuel injection, OEM or Weber, though I have read negative things about Weber. The carb has been an issue since I have had it. Runs very very rich and I found that the choke was open. Fixed that and I had less fumes in the cab but still pretty strong. The engine always reved high and never relaxed. Needs adjusting but all of a sudden it idles better now almost to the point to where the engine cuts off. Under acceleration in first and second I get tons of hesitation. I was considering the OEM but I don't have any of the original parts. NONE. All I have is the 4 barrel carb and a Offenhauser intake. I don't know where to begin. i figure the OEM set up would cost way to much and may as well go with FI. I am having a problem finding a mechanic around here that has experience with these things. I have been told different things by 3 mechanics.:bang::bang::bang:

Oh and my breaks are locking up now. If I apply any pressure to the breaks the rear drums seam to be locking up causing me to skid. Never did that before with lots of pressure applied.

Did you replace your leaking clutch master cylinder?

Did you repalce the slave cylinder?

What kind of fluid is leaking?

Where is 'around here'?

Poser, I added some to the end.
Around here is in Charleston, South Carolina.
I waiting on the slave cylinder to come in the mail.

Howdy! You don't mention what your rig is, or how it is setup, but I'm guessin it's a 40 with an F/2F. Good chance that carb is setup way too "Hot Rod" style for an old cruiser. You might be much better off with an OEM carb and intake. You should be able to find one around here on the classifieds. Just post up what you need. John

have a look at you spark plugs are they sooty? how bout the exhaust.?

You mentioned the choke stuck open but that should have the opposite effect of running rich

how many cfm is the carb you are running now?

You are correct. The choke was the other way around. The choke knob on the dash isn't even hooked up. I can't answer the other questions.
