I love the Clemson Orange. You seriously need to put a big white Clemson paw somewhere on it. I would love to piss off all of the chicken lovers here in SC. Great build, keep the porn coming I love it. To you chicken lovers:flipoff2:

I'm a UNC fan. lol

My wife works for Clemson.

This all started with a little mold? Great job on your "repaint". Good luck on the rest of your project. Brendon

which every one you want i cant decide...:hhmm:

This thread is inspiring me to put the motorcycle away for the winter and get to work on the rust on the Cruiser. Just need to learn to weld. And paint. And cut and grind, come to think of it. No time like the present.

Well I haven't had much time to get anything done. But now I have no choice. GSMTR is in 5 weeks and I have promised myself I would have it there. SO plan on a very fast final build.

Painted the passenger rocker weld with some rust bullets.

Welded the right side outer rear sill in and gave it a lather of paint. I had to put down my scooter and helmet to take this photo.

Drivers side rocker inner sheetmetal was shot. No way to just cut out the rust and replace. SO I cut it all out and stiched in new 14 ga. metal. Then lathered some RB all inside. Those of you who have ever welded in sheetmetal that long can appreciate the patience it takes not to go to fast and warp everything.

Then I finished welding up the wheelwells where the roll bar used to be. It was all rotted out. As well I had to install a new lip all the way around where the wheelwell meets the fender.

2010-122-18-22-22-0-DSC00679.jpg

Slathered some more RB on the back of the passenger fender that I made.

2010-122-18-22-32-0-DSC00680.jpg

And then mounted it in it's final place. All I have left is to weld it in.

Friday I welded the passenger fender on.

2010-128-20-21-3-0-DSC00690.jpg

Cut what was left of the drivers side fender off. Some good rust inside the upper channel. Will be treating that with some rust bullets before welding the new skin on.

Put a coat of etching primer on the fender then layed a coat of medium filler on the panel. Sanded then layed another coat of primer. All I need to do now is sand with 180 and start laying primer and paint.

Other side is another story though I did finish the metal work on the fender with a hammer and dolly. It's ready to be welded after I put some rust bullets on the back. Also got the drivers rocker welded in. 1/4 inch steel.

Slow and steady. Great thread. Thanks for sharing it.

This part is funny:

So this weekend I had planned on stripping the body and attempting to paint the whole thing. Well two days and that didn't happen.

I cut a blank sheet out a little long. Then I laid it up to the old fender and traced out the wheel opening and bottom. I then measured down from that about an inch and cut out the excess. Then I put the sheetmetal skin back on the fender and used sef tapping screws to put it where I wanted. Then took a hammer and beat around the opening pushing the metal over. It will deform somewhat. Then after the opening was roughed out I took the sheetmetal off and laid it on the ground and used a chisel and made a line on the inside corner I had just formed all the way around. This helps square the edges. Then once that was done I kept it on the ground and used a hammer and a dolly to get the edge where I wanted.

Key is to lay some carpet over the panel while you beat it so you don't go deaf.

Nice...... Thanks. That's one less thing I have to figure out. Good thinkin. Did 1 inch workout to be about right?

Once I saw your thread I started thinking about this. Do you think it would be less work if I cut the stencil like you did minus the 1 inch but instead of bending the metal over I just weld on the edging, maybe get some 1/8th inch x 3/4 bar stock? Maybe heat it a little around the rear radius. Wire feed it on.

The round pipe bent 90 deg. for the wheel well supports is a great idea. If the ends are plated then they will be sealed up tight. Another problem solved.

Thanks for the pics.

Jay (99UZJay ) came over Sunday and we got the radiator back in the cruiser and filled. We threw the gas tank back in and BG2F started right up. Even after sitting for almost a year.

Got the rear sill back on and a coat of paint on it. We also got the drivers rear fender back on and temporary screwed down.

That night I went back out and welded the fender on and started grinding the welds.

Last night finished grinding the welds and got a coat of primer on. I now can remove the tub bracing. All that is left to weld is some more holes in the dash and 3 holes in the tub. Hope to have that done tonight. Then I get to lay some more primer and a little body filler and sand. Then she is ready for some paint.

Hoping to have all the paint finished by Sat morning and start assembling everything that weekend.

Hoping.

I'll get some more pics tonight.

So I've got a little catching up to do. I've been either working on this, helping chair GSMTR, or on jury duty.

Got the drivers side rear fender welded on and primed.

I slathered a coat of medium body filler over it.

2010-144-22-52-26-0-DSC00778.jpg

I sanded it down and filled in any remaining areas.

2010-144-22-52-49-0-DSC00781.jpg

I also cleaned the cruiser out and finally cut the bracing out of it. That felt good. As well I welded and filled in any holes I wasn't going to need in the dash as well lay out the arrangement for the new stuff.

Last night I got it in the garage and hit it with more primer.

2010-144-22-55-18-0-DSC00796.jpg

And more primer.

Some more color. Air was starting to get thick.

Considering how bad the tub really was I thought it turned out nice. It's not a showroom finish. But I have more paint invested in the engine than I do on the whole rest of the vehicle.

2010-144-22-56-6-0-DSC00801.jpg

Now I have the black to put down and maybe the bed liner and paint the other small crap.

Getting closer to being done. Only 10 days to go.

Your garage looks alot like mine... :)

I like the garage door doubling as a test spray area as well.
