It looks just like the m416 I think its just older the badge says delivery on 5 of 1951. I would rather have the m 101 cdn but I'm in utah, and they are hard to find. Everything works and is oe. But it appears the tub is part of the frame, does anyone know if thats the case.I have found a bunch of tacks, its not welded solid but pretty ******* close. I am very excited to start the build. By the way they have one more it can be viewed at ksl.com under utility trilers refine the search using "jeep" they want $950 the bumped the price to $975 but the older add for the $950 is still on ksl. OH and the one thats left is the green painted one I took the army original. I found a guy to sand blast for $120 but I'm concerned if I do it with the tub mounted I won't get all the rust, did any one else have to cut the tacks?

THANKS

I've heard that the M101 CDN has the tub welded to the frame and that the older, US M100 and M416 1/4 ton trailers both had the tub bolted to the frame. Perhaps someone tack-welded the frame on the trailer you're looking at?

I have the techincal manual for the M100 trailer at home. I am not sure what mayonaise jar I stuck it in but I will look for it and find out how the tub is attached.

I've got a 1952 M100 getting close to a rebuild. The tub is welded to the frame. Ugly, ain't it?

Centerlineseal beat me to it but to quote the "bible" TM 9-2330-201-14, 26 April 1972, Section II Description and Data, Paragraph 1-6 Description (a) General (1) The body and frame are of one piece welded construction.

UGLY

Yes it looks rough BUT, it is amazing what can be done........ at least you got a tail gate. Mine is still sporting army drab! I also found the specs so looks like it will get a blast and desert tan rinoline inside and out as well as the frame and tub bottom. I'm just stoked I found one in my home town with only surface rust. I,ll post pics soon.

Thanks for the response.

Congratulations on scoring an M100. It doesn't really matter how trashed the trailer is, it can be fixed. The box is welded to the frame and they're about 6" narrower than an M416 but they are sweet trailers. My trailer had about 50 bullet holes, big holes cut in the bed and a fair amount of rust but the steel is pretty thick and takes sandblasting well.

I haven't had any problems, but the CG is a little higher. The only issues were making a bracket for the parking brake cable because it's at a more extreme angle. I think I had to come up with new centering pins too.

I seem to remember that the threading on the shackle pin / bolt was reversed, but it was 2 years ago and CRS is kicking in pretty hard.:D
Remember too that it is the thickness of the axle plus the thickness of the spring pack higher - like 6".

yup, my m416 is bolted to the frame. Made for easy disassembly. Congrats on the find.

I need to fab some brackets for the cables but its done and handles 65mph sooth as silk. I was surprised how easy EVERYsingle nut came off, I did not have one issue with seized nuts:) wow I think I'll take this summer to use the trailer and this winter go AT I have seen some great rigs on here. FIREFLYER thanks for your pics and input.

Kind Regards
Jonathan
