Hi guys,

I sold my 55 a few months back and one of my other vehicles and after searching for a while, found an 80! :) Enough talk.

1997 Land Cruiser, factory lockers, and one piece rear windows.

Yea, the tail covers are coming off within the next week. The front will come off when I get an ARB. :)

Howdy! SWEEEET! Looks mighty familiar. Need a set of 3rd row seats in gray? John

Thanks. This truck is from Texas. The PO actually drove it straight from DFW (17 hrs), dropped it off, and hopped on a flight back. Talk about service! It has no carfaxable history leading to AZ, so it shouldn't look too familiar if that's what you meant...unless you're from Texas.

As for the third row, this came with no third row option from the factory. There aren't any brackets to hold them. No worries, it will hold enough people for me!

I would take the front off ASAP, if you happen to bump a shopping cart with it, your not going to be happy. If the plan includes wheeling in AZ, I would buy any other bumper but ARB.

Yea, that's what I've heard (about the front). You're saying you DON'T recommend the ARB? I've heard a few reviews saying the Slee is better for certain angles, but I thought it depended on how extreme the wheeling would be.

Sweet looking rig!

Why not an ARB?

Why not an ARB?

They stick out too far and youll hit it on the approach to many obstacles. The Slee short bus is a nice choice.

Congrats . Looks awesome - did you find it here in AZ? Details man!

Thanks guys.

Thanks Murf. Any knowledge of how the Slee holds up in a front end collision?

As for the details on the truck, I bought it from a guy out in Texas (DFW area). After some negotiations, we came to a price and he even drove it out here and dropped it off for me, then hopped on a plane back to TX.

'97 w/ factory lockers, one piece rear windows and no third row option from the factory. When the PO dropped it off, it had 199,996 miles on it. :D

No accident history according to Autocheck and Carfax. No documented maintenance to speak of, other than what the PO claims and what the PO before him claimed, but the truck runs smoooooth and most of the engine and components look pretty tidy.

Congrats! You're lucky to find one with lockers. I like my ARB front bumper but the Slee short bus looks nice too. Another option is the MetalTech.

... You're saying you DON'T recommend the ARB? ...

As Murf said, they are huge, reducing approach. They also are shaped completely wrong on the lower edge, so with ground contact, they will hang the rig, this transfers big loads to the bumper, often bending it. The "recovery points" are worthless. I can and do, go on and on.:hillbilly:

The bottom line; if you have one and like it great, they are good for running over wildlife, have the "look" that everyone else has, so are "cool". On the trail they suck, so if you don't have one just about any other bumper is a better choice. I would look into having one made that is exactly what you want. There are a couple of local fabricators who have made nice, unique bumpers at a competitive price.

“…they are good for running over wildlife…”

Never underestimate the importance of being able to run over wildlife. I mean, have you been to one of the monthly cruiser meetings lately?

As the proud new owner of a non-wench arb, I believe they are terrific! In fact, I can’t say enough good things about it. And no, I’m not just saying that because I’m planning on selling it in awhile.

Have you seen Kevin's front Bumper - Sure evidence of that!

When it was my ARB (complete with dent(s)), it still had a "wench"...I dont miss her nagging tho....:hillbilly:

Now that would be an accessory

And how much is ARB charging for the Wench attachment? Does it come in Redhead, or Blonde?
