I would say so far I am 8 hrs in it, thinking it will take at least another 8 have not done the engine bay or interior and outside and under is prob 80%How many hours of powerwashing was that?
I feel you on this haha I was contemplating how many more times I want to do this or how I can better set up a cleaning bay with lift etc.Yeah, it's a blast busting through mud and muddy puddles and changing the color to matte desert Army tan, but having off roaded for many years now, after several times coming home with my rig looking like that, and spending the better part of a day pressure washing every little nook 'n cranny, I now tiptoe through mud and puddles.
Sometimes the mud is either so thick or it's clay, that it's almost impossible to get off the under carriage.
But I don't mind when others do it and post their photos!![]()
That's a great ideaPut a regular garden sprinkler underneath and let it do its thing for a few hours while you occasionally move it to different spots under the car can get things pretty clean without having to pressure wash mud directly into your face.
Also dropping skid plates to make sure everything is cleaned and washed from underneath is a good idea.
It saves a lot of time since you can do other stuff while the sprinkler is running. You will probably still have to check all the nooks and crannies and have the power washer available, but you will only need to power wash the tricky spots instead of entire underbody. That's a great ideayou really think it will work with things caked deep within and over rails etc. I had to use angled nozzle extensions and many other tricks to get it to come out of all the places packed/buried within the frame, hardware etc. ?
Yeah dropping all skids is a must, as well as jacking it up and removing tires etc. what a mess
Where the hell is this "mall" with this mud puddle you speak of?
Such a truthful, accurate and hurtful responseOof, that'll be dripping off on your face for years. Call a bunch of your local auto detailers and see if they'll do steam cleaning on a lift. I'd pay them to do that with the skids removed, even after all of you washing. That junk gets in every nook and cranny from every conceivable angle that you can never replicate with any kind of sprinkler, hose, or pressure washer. Good luck, man. But seriously, better you than me...
I like this idea a lot, looking into getting a purpose built one or making my own or finding some kind of high pressure upward angle one to stick under and just saturate the underneath and move it around as you said.It saves a lot of time since you can do other stuff while the sprinkler is running. You will probably still have to check all the nooks and crannies and have the power washer available, but you will only need to power wash the tricky spots instead of entire underbody.
Haha I did it at Hyperfest, their off road track and technical course at VIR.Where the hell is this "mall" with this mud puddle you speak of?
FYI, the worst thing known to man is to clean that engine bay after these sorts of mud puddles...
Oh, and you should invest in one of these too.
