started the truck this morning and the transmission temp warning light is on, the timing belt light is on and the battery voltage light is also on. I pulled the alternator and the brushes are good. I am at a loss as to what is causing this. Batteries are about 4 months old. I am at a loss as to what is causing this. Any ideas ? Thanks, Mike

Regulator?
12 or 24v?

Not sure what regulator. 24v

The regulator is a black plastic thing attached to the rear of the alternator. It usually starts off playing up and then its ok and then it will play up again until it fails 100%.
If the alternator and regulator are charging you should be getting close to 28volts? when the engine is running.

Yep getting 28.5 v at the alternator.

Are the warning lights on continuously even when its making 28.5v?
And do you get 28.5v at the battery terminals?

Warning lights are constantly on. Yes, 28.5 at the terminals.

So I went to the local alternator/starter shop this morning and he said that the alternator is bad. So now to find a 24v alternator. Thanks all that helped
With this mystery.

Just get yours rebuild
Done that many times

Pretty sure I’ve got a couple used spare HZJ7 24v alternators on the shelf if you strike out on the rebuild option.

With this mystery.

You checked the brushes and said they were ok. Maybe its just the regulator?

Took it to a shop and a wire is broken on the spool. So another is being ordered.

Is the wire that is the winding? I wonder how that could break, have you seen the broken wire?

Yes in the winding. He said the same thing. Not too often seen one with a broken wire.

Wouldn't happen to still have one of these on your shelf would you? I'm in the market do to the same issue on mine...
I’ve got a couple 1HZ alternators left. 27060-17190 30a 24v with oval plug and a 27060-17060 30a 24v with round plug.
