Hello troops,
I have a HJ75 aftermarket turbo 4.2 diesel.
Today I snuck out of work early and got about 2ks up the road, as I left the lights, something went wrong.
As I took off in first, I heard a bang and a jolt. It sort of felt like I had been shunted from behind, but as I accelerated I had no forward motion. Managed to sort of roll across two lanes of traffic, and then with the help of a passing motorist and three locals got the troopie off the road. (gee its a heavy fU#$er)
I looked at the dash and notices it was saying 4wd had been selected, but when I shifted the 4wd lever, it was obvious it was not connecting to anything at all.
I managed to get the 4wd lever into 2 wd and engaged first gear, and let out the clutch. I could hear a sort of whirring sound, almost a low growl/grind but no forward motion. Engaged 4wd h and 4wd low for a similar sound and no movement. I figure something has gone awry in the transfer case...
Anyone hazard a guess? Probably not something I will play with (wife is due to give birth any day so...) but I would like to know what it could be,
The drive shafts felt pretty solid (both of them) and I had some trouble turning the front one, but it wasnt too bad, while the back one, well I couldnt move it. Oh probably cause the rear wheels were on the ground.
Dropped it at a mechanics (off the back of a truck) Mechanic reackons there is a shaft in the transfer case that may have come adrift. I did notice last week a sound which was like a card in the spokes of your bike. May or may not be linked. Its a pretty hard done by vehicle really. I drive it a bit hard so it probably deserves some tlc
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated
Be good and I will let you know how much it c osts and what the mech says
