So, an HZJ-79 axle looks to have the same knuckles (basically) as an 80 series cruiser. Am I way off base in thinking that?

If I have an HZJ-79 axle that is incomplete, and I just wanted to get knuckles, spindles and hubs onto it would a setup from an FJ-80 or FZJ-80 work? Don't care about ABS, but could leave it unconnected if I used FZJ-80 components...

Just exploring options here...

Dan: FJ80 setup would be ideal.

Same knuckles, same birfs, same hardware, same spindles (though the upgraded -60081 spindles from the 105 would be ideal).

Wheel bearings are the same as an 80 series and trunions are the same as the 80 series.

Hubs would be different with 8mm studs (vs 10mm from a 79) and 6 lug vs 5 lug from a 79.

Also the brake rotors are different as are the calipers.

All of the 79 stuff is available in the US (rotors, calipers, hub assy, etc.)

I should have just asked you in the first place.

Sweet. You can probably see where I'm thinking of heading with that question too. :hhmm:

Is the wheel mounting surface in the same location on the 80 vs. 70 knuckles? As in, is the distance from the trunion to the WMS the same?
