I sat down read the FAQ and looked over the FSM and I notice the fluid I added for 75w90 GL-5 Gear oil does not state hypoid.
What I have been able to find is (none of which list hypoid but they all state for differentials and LSD):
Penzoil 75w90 GL-5
Penzoil 75w90 GL-5 Synthetic
Castrol 75w90 GL-5 Hypoy C
Castrol 75w90 GL-5 Syntec
Lucas 75w90 GL-5
Store Brand named Gear Oil (I'm in Canada)
Motor Master 75w90 GL-5
Motor Master 75w90 GL-5 Semi Blended
Motor Master 75w90 GL-5 Synthetic --> *What I used*
Motor Master 75w90 GL-5 Extreame Pressure Synthetic for differentials
So the question is with API GL-5 . MT-1 would that mean there is hypoid or do I need to go to the dealer and get the additive?
(I'll be switching over to Castrol 75w90 GL-5 Syntec as a fluid flush for winter)
Searching has come up with a mix match of comments regarding hypoid but nothing I could find definitive.
