Would you recommend a Trail Gear full hydraulic steering for a. SOA applied, 38'' swamper , stock engine 3F gasoline with a performance weber carb., ARB front & rear lockers, 4.88 ring & pinion , heavy duty 43.40 axle kit front & rear. 1990 FJ 70

What could be the effects or defects of a full hydraulic system?

thanx

Issues you have to think of

1. Hydraulic steering no feedback
2. Make sure hydraulic pump is powerful enough to driving the pump
3. Issues with keeping full hydraulic steering straight lined at speed is an issue
4. Tie rod ends etc must be stronger else they will just break (as will any mounting point.

We been going through this with my Volvo rebuild and watching another comp truck get fitted out with Hydralic steering.

If you run on the street at all I would go hydro assist I could not turn my 37s at all with the hubs locked before the addition of the 8" RAM now it will move the truck sideways if I'm up against a rock the guy I bought it from had just put full hydro on a samurai and said he dam near wrecked it on the test drive around the bloc scared him pretty bad .
