Hello all .. here is the thing .. I bite the dust with PSC pump and fancy hydroboost reservoir with filter .. filter and pump are done in the engine nicely .. but I assume that was all .. and my previous hose that was connecting my mod wrangler pump with my box will work bolt on ..

As my mom said .. " never is that easy "

I'm not any good with hose measurements and here you come to help me .. I'm using ( currently attached to my PS Toyoda factory box ) hose ( 1/2 .? ) attached to the fitting on the right .. but the PSC pump came with #6 JIC fitting ( suppose to use the fitting on the left ) .. I wasn't able to find an adapter locally to go from the thick hose/serviceable fitting ( which I got from PSC along with my hydraulic piston year ago ) to the 90° one on the left ..

main.php

The one on the left have the #6 JIC that use my PS pump ..

Here is the difference in diameter from the hose that I was using and the one that I should use with the 90° that I have

main.php

I got this 90° locally .. but as you see it will not work with the serviceable fitting that work on my hose

So the orientation ( need an orientation vid from Dharma - LOST ) start here .. for you guys using PSC pump with 6# JIC fitting .. which hose diameter / fitting are you using to your box ?

Are you using adapters ..? it's an option or drop the idea .. ?

thanks !

David

So are both fittings listed as -6?

I see your straight fitting has a -6 on it. And that should be JIC/AN (6/16" or 3/8" tubing)

The fitting with a radius I cannot tell what markings are on it.

You may have a mixture of AN/JIC and SAE fittings there. JIC fittings have a 37* flare and SAE fittings have a 45* flare. They are not compatible.

I'd identify exactly what fittings the PSC pump has on it first, they do make adapters to go from female -5 JIC to -6 JIC

BTW, you really want to use the smooth radius 90* fitting. That 90* adapter you got there has the potential to cause cavitation and really throw a monkey wrench into your steering system.

Where did you get that right angle small 90* adapter? Was it sold to you as -6 jic?

This chart is true to size. Might help with identification.

Nop

I believe the straight one it's this one

A1 #8 field servicable straight - Fittings Only - Hose, Fittings & Seal Kits - Offroad - Motorsport Specific Products

and the other one it's this ..

#6 Field Serviceable 90 Degree Large OD-HA2-690 : Steering Hose and Fittings, Fittings Only | PSC Motorsports - performance steering components

I see your straight fitting has a -6 on it. And that should be JIC/AN (6/16" or 3/8" tubing)

I would need to measure the OD of the hose that I'm using right now .. ( believe it's something like 1/2 ) t

It said 5/8 thought hose diameter designed for ..?

The 90° " adapter " it's AN .. others are JIC and it's my intention run all JIC coz the PSC pump will only acept JIC

I drop Mail to Kelvin at PSC with no answer yet ..

thanks .. I can't use it any case

Where did you get that right angle small 90* adapter? Was it sold to you as -6 jic?

Locally and we have not many options to choose ..

-8 or -10 lines are generally only from the res to the pump. #6 is the correct size for plumbing from the pump to the steering stuff (including ram)

This is the straight one right?
main.php

If so, the markings on it (-6) are for a #6 fitting. Unless that -6 is actually a -8 and the pic is wrong.

It said 5/8 thought hose diameter designed for ..?
5/8 hose diameter is #10 Sure it did not say 3/8"?

The 90° " adapter " it's AN .. others are JIC and it's my intention run all JIC coz the PSC pump will only acept JIC

AN and JIC are functionally identical. Only real differences are very minor specs relating to the thread pitch.

thanks .. I can't use it any case

Try to find a sweeping 90* no matter what.

Can you take your parts down there and have them tell you exactly what you have on hand? AN/JIC and size?

My ram use #6 for sure .. but the straight one in the pic that it's clearly bigger than the 90° ( which it's also #6 and match the PSC pump port ) and the straight one was attach to my old Wrangler pump.

5/8 hose diameter is #10 Sure it did not say 3/8"?

Will verify as soon as reach home and will post pic that show what both said ..

Try to find a sweeping 90* no matter what.

Well that was my first try .. find 90° #6 compatible with my actual hose ( bigger OD )

Or just plain buy something like this ..

Field Serviceable #6 Universal Pressure Hose Kit-HK2034 : Steering Hose and Fittings, Hose Kits | PSC Motorsports - performance steering components

but will need to know what do I need to plug ( adapt ) it to my Toyoda box .. maybe this .?

Field Serviceable Toyota 22RE Conversion Pressure Hose Kit-HK2018 : Steering Hose and Fittings, Hose Kits | PSC Motorsports - performance steering components

or this

Field Serviceable Toyota V6 Pump Conversion Pressure Hose Kit-HK2019 : Steering Hose and Fittings, Hose Kits | PSC Motorsports - performance steering components

I will pull the box side today to see what I have there ( can't remember from the last time I did ) maybe my easy option it run all in whatever hose diameter use the 90° JIC #6 that I got from PSC ..

Consistency is good..

here is a pic of the detail in the 90 JIC #6

main.php

what you can read in the straight one ..

main.php

main.php

in the 90º

main.php

main.php

the hose that I was using

main.php

connector to the box

main.php

and to the old hose ..

main.php

the way that was working

main.php

I'm going back to the local hydraulic shop to see what they have .. if I can use the serviceable fitting with an straight adapter I will but if not .. second option it's see if they can crimp my hose the small OD hose with something compatible with the 90 that goes in the box ..

main.php

the idea it's the keep the 90 in the other end ..

main.php

gotta love playing fittings ..

Looks to me like your sweep 90 uses a 5/16 in hose so you have a -5 jic fitting there..

Btw, it is the id of the hose that defines the size of the fitting.

Mace has you pointed in the right direction. I went through this process when i was plumbing my full hydro and my hydroboost. Its a nightmare to say the least. I ended up making a million trips to my local hydraulic shop until I got everything right. Honestly, if I were to do it over again I would have just bought ALL my fittings and hose from one place. I was trying to mix and match parts from PSC and my local place and it was a pain. The biggest problem is the language that is used among the fittings... some companies call some fittings JIC and will tell it works with AN and others will tell you differently. Using one source is easier in the long run.

Problem solved after few trips to the hydraulic shop..

Willing to make more with the inclusion of my hydro booster in the picture

good to know .. I was taking measurements from OD ..

Been a while stuck with home and other Marilu projects .. but back here I got the Sky Toyota flare adapters .. what a nice piece of work .. they where perfect, then move to the nightmare of my bleed situation .. but got that done.

main.php

and did this work of art ..

main.php

Start running our of free space in my engine bay ..

Any case .. had 2 questions ..

1. last night took complete brake fluid bath under Tencha due to stuck rusted bleeders in my rear eldo calipers .. where I can source those bleeders ... I'm using the calipers included in the TSM rear brake kits .. but not sure if there are more than one model out there or if all are compatibles .. gonna buy at least 4 ..

2. I want to make my HB softer .. I mean it locks my 40" but I need to push a bit more harder than I want to .. what I do want it's have the same factory pedal travel and feeling that I have in Marilu .. it's that possible . ?

Note: I'm also running PSC PS pump and ram .. having complete smooth steering

Turns out I replace eldo calipers bleeder here is a pic of my old ones and the one that replace.

Model for reference

And my actual HB setup with eldo MC 1" Bore
