Okay, so I have these 4 Rough Country springs that I've been trying to sell. I thought about putting them on my 40, but decided not to.... not so much because of the reputation of harsh ride but because it would mean that I should then get bigger tires. I didn't think I was ready to spend the money on brand new tires.

But then I tore a big hole in a sidewall this past weekend, so I need some new ones anyway.

Rather than just go up to 33s from my 32s, I'm thinking maybe I could use these R.C. springs to get a little more left (maybe 3 inches) and do 34s or 35s. Probably 34s. But then there's this harsh ride thing with the 3 thick leaves of the rough country springs.

Could I take apart the packs and put together a hybrid set using one or two of the RC leaves and some of the stock leaves? If so, which leaves would I use from each set?

why go half way? put the axles on the dark side of the springs and call it good :grinpimp:

you could create a hodge podge pack, it really is hard to tell how it rides until you do the 4 sets and run it....I'd probably take the second lift leaf and maybe the third, leave the long original one and see how it does...

And that is how it all begins. :D

Seriously, I don't know of any SUA lift springs that give a *soft* ride. I say go for it.

THIS is how it all began...

So, John, do you agree with bk's assessment? Try the #1 spring from the stock pack with 2 and maybe 3 from the thick-ass RC pack? I was thinking maybe just one leaf from the RC pack with a couple from the stock pack, considering how thick the RC leaves are, but would that give me enough lift? I guess that's pretty much doing an add-a-leaf at that point.

Maybe a pic of the RC spring would help? I don't know anything about this stuff.

You mean remove one leaf from the Rough Coutry pack, not from the stock pack, right?

Sorry for needing things explained kindergarten style :)shotts:) , but...

If it were you, and you had leaves 1-6 of the stock pack and 1-3 of the RC pack to play with, which ones would you use?

Configuration A: Stock 1, RC2, RC3

Config B: S-1, RC-2, S-3, S-4

C: S-1, S-2, RC-2

or something else?

I would start with the RC spring pack...take out the short leaf and set it aside....

then take the next one and set it aside...and on, and on...

Until all you are left with is the stock spring pack and then spring it over :grinpim:

you tore that tire up really good! I'd put a little west virginia chrome (duct tape) on it - it'll be fine ;)

Yeah, That was quite a blowout.

I would also thinking that dumping the shortest leaf might help on the RCs. 34s/35s would be cool. Maybe run them a little softer(lower pressure) if the ride is real rough.
