Vehicle Description~The FJ68

This is a hybrid Land Cruiser, It combines the new with the old. This FJ62 body is sitting on top of an 80series frame, axles and suspension. It gives the ride of a newer Land Cruiser with the classic look of an earlier 60 series Land Cruiser. The front clip was changed to the early style round head lights and grill. The auto was taken out in favor of a 4 speed Land Cruiser manual transmission. The T-case was also converted to manual shift. This truck starts every time, and the engine runs strong.

This Land Cruiser is 100% Toyota built as all the parts were used to build this vehicle where either from the 60 or 80 series land cruiser. When the frame from 80 series had all new body mounts welded to it was repainted at the same time. The 80 series suspension gave the truck a lift of about 2.5inches. There are brand NEW BFG A/Ts on the truck (33 x 9.5) mounted on Aluminum 80series Land Cruiser rims. There where also rock sliders put on the vehicle as it was made for a daily driver and light trail duty.

The full time 4 wheel drive was replaced by a part time transfer case found in the fj62 (rebuilt). Refurbished Aisin hubs where also put on the front axle to accommodate the part time transfer case. The body has been Rhino lined along the lower half and roof. The rain gutter was also 3M seam sealed before the lining went on to ensure it stayed rust free for a very long time.

The paint is fairly good condition for its age, but it does have some clear coat chips and usual road nicks. I have always kept it washed and waxed. The truck is rust free which is hard to find, along with being dent free. The A/C needs recharged as it worked before the frame swap it just need new freon. There is a small tear in the driver seat that seems to be on all Land Cruisers of this era, and there is a slight vibration coming from a u-joint. I will work on getting the u-joint replaced if I have the time.

There is a huge amount of work that has gone into this truck. It really is one of a kind. As this truck was being built everything has been gone through and checked out, and if didn't check out it was replaced, rebuilt. I will type a list below of parts replaced or upgraded from the build. This truck is sold As-Is, I will try to help with shipping in any way I can. This vehicle has been describe to the best of my knowledge, if there are any questions or request for pics post up or e-mail me at Al@nfcruiserheads.org.

I built this for a daily driver and light duty trail rig for myself I never intended on selling it but I drive to far a day to keep it. I am selling it for 8,000 rather firm on the price as that barley covers both Land Cruisers that where bought to build this and all the new parts that went into it, that does not even include the labor it took to build this. The FJ68 will come with both titles one for the 80 series and the other for the 62 series. The cruiser is located in Saint Augustine, Florida 32080

Sweet, rig. Lockers?

nice looking ride, what kind of mpg's with the drivetrain setup?

I have only really done around town driving as I live on an island and try my best not to leave it when I am not at work.;) 11-14 around town depending on driving style, getting rid of that auto really free'd up a lot of power...

Will except reasonable offers...

Sorry to hear you have to sell it. You did a great job on it. Looks awesome. The fuel injection and 5 speed in a 60's body is a great setup.

Wish I had the cash. A killer ride to be sure. Bump for a killer surf rig. ;)

I like it. Very cool ride and the price is OK. Nice job, and good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the good words guys. Have a few offers, Will keep everyone updated.

Thanks again:cheers:

What did you do re: the check engine light and the missing auto tranny? Pretty cool truck. Vintage with modern motor and suspension has a certain appeal to it.

I used the check engine light from the 62, yulp no auto never was much a fan of them. Plus a 60 with out a manual tranny is just odd to me:steer:

drive it to Texas and I'll trade ya for my 85 SR5 excab 35's and still gets 25mpg on the hwy All pro long travel 6 in 529 locker COLD a/c
