We moved to Minnesota from Texas this last year and never really had an issue with the window fogging before. But once the winter came, we noticed it right away on a road trip to Wisconsin. Check the boards here to troubleshoot the issue and discovered it was a broken HVAC recirculate door. problem is, I have no idea when it happened. Dealer here says their system doesn't tie into the service history of the Texas dealerships and even if it did, the car is out of warranty. How much does it cost to fix this? Is there a DIY fix?

Tons of threads with plenty of pics for DIY fixes. The difficulty of repair really depends on how/where it broke. Some have been lucky enough that they just had to reseat the pin the door hinges on and they were back in business. Others have had to rebuild the socket the pin rotates in.

Here are a few:

edit: And another

Hi guys,

I recently checked my recirculation door and I'm running into a somewhat unique issue. It seems like when the recirculation button is off (and the flap down), there is a small gap and the flap does not completely cover the cabin filter. It measures about 3/4 of an inch. I can press it down but then it goes back up to the original gap. I uploaded some short videos of what I am referring to. I sealed the gap with painters tape since I was having serious fogging issues this past few weeks which have now totally resolved.

Is there anyway to repair this issue? I suspect there may be a problem with the servo position or perhaps the gears being stripped somewhat from it being forced open. The arm is connected to the cover and looks completely intact.

Thanks!
