Hello folks. We would like to have a 5 spoke style wheel built for the 5 on 150 pattern. It would be 17 x 8.5 or 9" in size, probably forged, and of course dual bead lock. In order to get this done, we need to have at least 5 people to meet the minimum order. They will be more expensive than the regular cast Rock Monster Wheels. The style will be along the lines of this 16" wheel that Hutchinson produces for Land Rovers.

If you have not seen the post about the regular Rock Monsters, look here https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/319868-hutchinson-rock-monster-wheels-5-150-a.html

The 17" wheels and tires are quite common these days. We also need this to fit all the different Toyotas with the 5x150 pattern. The Tundra requires a 17" wheel (though not all 17's fit it) to clear the brakes, the 200 Series Land Cruiser may also.

285/75-17 would be a good option in the 34" diameter.

Are the spokes going to look like the FJ Cruiser Rockmonsters?

No, this won't be a 6 spoke design, more like the above pictured wheel. A 5 lug wheel = a 5 spoke design for good structure and balance.

That makes sense.....are these going to end up being mass produced our a just a one time specialty run?

You mentioned above you are shooting for a 8.5-9.0" wheel. Don't you need at least .5" more backspace to clear the upper control arm? Guess it all depends on what width tire you run but sounds like a 12.5" tire would be hard.

I'm guessing the design tire would be 35x12.5-17 (315/70-17) for the 100 or same width, 37" for the Tundra.... and maybe 33" for the 200.

For the 100, you'd probably want 1/2" less backspacing than our stock wheel has (for 1/2" more UCA clearance). So if designing an 8.5" width wheel, then +42mm offset would work to achieve that clearance. It will also stick out 1" more than stock.

Which begs another question. Why does the wheel need to be 8.5-9.0" wide? Seems like it only causes more issues then any advantage. My only thought is maybe the two piece bead lock design requires more width.

I forgot for a moment that offset changes with width.... Let me phrase it this way - we will keep the wheel center line as close as possible to stock while allowing for appropriate clearance.

Short answer, tire wear and mileage. The reason for the width is due to the tires we'll likely be running. Most 33/35/37" tires run 12.5" wide. It's a good all around width for the weight of these trucks. I've found many times over that the ideal on road tire contact patch can't be achieved running these with narrower wheels. To get even wear, I end up running lower pressures and bulging the sidewall to get all the tread in contact with the terra firma.

I'm with Nick, after seeing a real world shot I'm in love! PM me how much we are talking about?

Sickness... Those would be the best looking wheels I've seen available for a 100 series... I like the way they still give a stockish appearance (similar to the stock wheel design)... I would much rather have ordered those than pay for another transmission that I just ordered for my 100...
