How do you read the actual ohm count with the meter set on different settings. I checked my HT wire from my coil to my distributor today. I started out with the meter set on 200 and got no reading. I then set the meter on 2K and got no reading. I then set the meter on 20K and got a reading of 6.71. So, how do I calculate my actual ohm reading? And, what is an acceptable reading for this HT wire?

Thanks, my friends.

Your reading is 6,710 Ω (ohm) or 6,7 Kilo ohm
If you set the meter to 200, the range is from 0 to 200 ohm
on 2K the range is 0 to 2,000 ohm
on 20K the range is 0 to 20,000 ohm.
Note that with selecting a higher range the decimal point moves to the left in your display.
The higher the setting the less important is the last digit behind the dot.

Rudi: Thanks. Is this high of a reading for the coil to distributor HT cable? Else where on this site I read that it should be less than
3000 ohms. Thank you
