Reaching out to those who have done a few ring gear installs.
This is my second diff. The first-the front diff on the 60-was basically unused and went back together with new bearings but all other hardware retained, so it was no surprise I got a good pattern with that.
This is the rear diff which got a new (OEM) ring gear and pinion, all new bearings, carrier, spider gears etc. The housing is the only original part. I would greatly appreciate if you could confirm that I've got a good pattern:
Drive side:
Over-run side:
Pinion gear:
In case anyone is interested, this is the original 60 Series housing running a late 80 Series factory LSD carrier (4 pinion type with 50 mm carrier bearings compared to the 60's 2 pinion type with 45 mm carrrier bearings) and a new OEM ring and pinion. The pinion shaft has increased in size from 30 mm to 33 mm so it's running 100 Series pinion shaft bearings and nut and 200 Series (= current 70 Series) companion flange, oil seal and oil slinger. 4.11 ratio, all genunine parts apart from a Terrian Tamer 100 Series solid spacer and two 0.02 mm stainless washers which I cut myself from a roll of shim stock. The shims that Terrain Tamer provide in their overpriced 'kit' are totally useless (far too coarse adjustment) - f***ing amateurs.
Thanks!
EO
