Just picked up 06 Horizon with ARB Simpson II.
Where kids want to go camping drops to around 40 at night. Is sleeping back going to keep them warm enough or do I need to look into a heater?
By the way the AT build quality is admirable. Great rig.

I don't have one, but my guess is that the foam bedding should provide considerable insulation. And they're not very large, so body heat should help warm it. My guess is 40 should be fine, as even the lightest sleeping bags generally have that as a lower limit.

40 degree lows with a suitably rated sleeping bag is easily manageable and comfie. A knitted style cap/beanie helps too when the temp drops below about 55-60*F.

40 should be fine even with cheap sleeping bags.
Clean, dry socks and a beanie put on before bed are key, at least for me.

40 is fine until you and, or, the kids have to clamber out of the the RTT and take a leak int the wind. I'm not being sarcastic, only subjective. I think that roof top tents are cute, but.... so are Tear Drop coffins with wheels.

Get your kids those blue closed cell foam to put under the mattress foam in the RTT. This stuff
holds heat very well, doesn't hold water so it will dry quickly when you air out the bedding. Kids sweat, so make sure you air the bedding before you pack it up in the morning and they should be ok.
Dry is warm, wet is cold, that's how I look at it.
