Curiously, how hard is it to replace the CV joint on the 100 series? How is it comparing to the job of swapping out birfield on the 40 series?

Hey TD,
It's not that hard but you have to have a ball joint remover and a brass drift. Also you will need to replace the c-clip (not sure what the offiial name for it) that holds the CV's in. This is non reusable part when you hammer out the cv's. Let me know if you need help I am local.

I think it is a little harder than getting to a birfield. It is pretty much the same except the ball joint part and you will need a hammer.

Hi Amando, I haven't messed up the CV joint yet, I just wonder if it's feasible to do CV field repair.

It would require that you carry a whole half shaft. This would make the job easier if you have the right tools to seperate either the upper or lower ball joint. After removing the clip under the cap, seperate the ball joint remove the old CV from the spindle(slips right out), use a pry bar to remove from front diff. Install is the reverse. could be done in way less than a hour if fast and efficent. With a lot less mess. later robbie

I did end up buying a second set of (used) CV's from Mudrak. I have rebuilt them and will carry them on trips. Just in case

my cv's are leaking now and have been leaking. My plan is to replace the current one with the ones I just bought from Gary then rebuild those and use those as spares or if someone else needs them before I do.
