Hello everyone,

I'm installing an FM expander and would appreciate it if someone can help with how to remove the head unit/nav screen on the 2008 Land Cruiser.

Thanks.

May I ask what an FM expander is?

Sure, it is a small electronic component (plugged between antenna and head unit's radio) that converts the FM radio frequency -in this case- from Japanese to US/regular radio frequencies/channels...

You may find the necessary details here. And its free.

Toyota Service Information

Click on Search AIM then select all accessory groups for the 200.

Have a look at the installation manuals for SWC Bluetooth Hands-free System or IPOD Interface Adapter

There are details for taking apart most of the internals of the car if you look through the various documents. JBL Premium Sound is also a good one.

Dude! This site is AWESOME! It's like free info!!! Thanks a ton!!!

It's pretty basic (god bless Toyota for this)

Use a plastic panel removal tool to pop both vents out on either side of the radio, but be VERY careful about damaging the rubber finish on the dash.

Once they're out you've then got the top cover also - this pops straight upwards.

Then there's simply 4 x 10mm bolts holding the radio in, remove those and then the whole thing comes out... there'll be clips holding the radio into the dash also, so pulling it out takes some force.
