I can’t find instructions on how to do this and the local dealership wants $150 dollars to do it, which seems absurd. Any idea what tools I’ll need?

I plan on keeping the cross bars for when I need them

No tools needed. Remove the plastic cover at the rear supports on both sides. That leaves the end of the track open. Slide the rails out.

For those visual learners among us, this is the part that snaps off:

I found the easiest way to remove them is:

Gently pry up the outboard rear edge of the part until the outboard edge is up enough to slide the whole part straight back to remove.

That's shameful that they want to charge $150 just to remove those bars. Maybe they are planning to just break the end caps and install new ones.

A plastic pry tool is helpful to get the little catches released.

Thanks gaijin, you’re great!

I’ll try to upload pics whenever I get around to it for future members so they can have a resource.

Used metal screw driver to loosen it then pulled it out with my hands. Then you just loosen the cross bars by hand, and then slide them out. Sliding out the front crossbar is much easier with two people (sister helped out 😂)

Not bad, took about 15 minutes, can be a lot quicker with experience

looks like you figured it out. For reference, here is a hod video from Gamiviti that shows this.

Just got around to it today, wasn’t too hard, I did have that video open as I was doing it
