How to open hood with failed release (1 Viewer)

The hood release cable on my wife cruiser has become ineffective. It has failed somewhere in the hood latch and I can't get to it.

How do I get the hood open????

thanks, i needed that. s***ty night at work, still here. had a hood latch break on a car i owned 21 years ago. never did get the thign open, sold it that way shortly thereafter. not a suggestion. good luck.

3 Hours after I rearended someone with my 80, I realized my hood would not come open. It seemed to be the cable having too much slack. I finally got mine open with 2 people: One pulling up on the hood as the other pulled the latch. To remedy the fix temporarily I raised the hood bumpers(?) but then bought a new latch as my biggest problem was a worn latch. Hope this helps.

same thing. rear ender. release ceased to work. grabbed a LARGE crow bar and hooked it behind the release handle in the cab. this held it place. then i was able to lift the hood to reach the latch lever.
