I've bad enough of this alarm. Remote is on its last leg. The LED in the dash bit the dust over a year ago. It goes off every time I connect the battery which then has me running to try to find the key. I pulled the brain from the DS kick panel to disable it but now my locks don't work. The DS and PS lock switches only control the DS.
Does anyone know a way to to get rid of it without an electrical engineering degree?

Check wiring diagram, you may be able to pull fuse to disable for motion sensor or ...

I probably will trace each wire and remove. I just hate the awkward angle of dealing with wires in the kick panel. If I was smart I would have done it when I had the dash out.

I don't think that is the same alarm. Most of my wires are labeled coming from the alarm "brain" so that helps but the 100 degree heat and laying around the kick panel with a headlamp isn't fun right now. I may deal with manual locks until the weather cools down.

Did you end up removing it? Was it pretty straight forward?

Hahaha!!! I'd be worried of it messing up in the middle of Big Bend all by yourself!

I want to remove mine prior to having a pro install a new, real alarm.

Well the alarm is removed so I don't have to worry about that. But it took auto locks with it.

Oh, okay.

I removed mine today. Took less than 30 minutes. Super easy. Everything functions 100%.

Give me a call I removed 2 last weekend (both 97s) less than 30 minutes tops

Found this old post by serching the main module part number 00014-S0200.
Situation: Wife drove our 80 home, parked it. No worries. 2 or 3 weeks later, I attempted to start it. Crank, no start. Checked fuel level. It was low so canned in 5 gallons and tried again. Crank, no start. Pulled plug wire off back of cap, stuck a nail in it, had another attempt to start while I looked for spark. No spark. Tried the same test on the main wire from coil to center of cap. No spark. Ran to parts store for stuff; coil, wires, plugs ,cap and rotor. Swapped them out. Crank, no start.
Friend suggested hunting alarm wires down, and removing it. Done. Cra
