The only thing that I can add to Poser's always spot on advice is to bench bleed the master, and that is best done on the truck, with two short pieces of brake line, attached per usual to the master, and the ends bent so that they each drain back into their respective cups. Then after that, attach the regular brake lines and bleed them. I like to use an empty bottle with a one-way valve in the tube, allowing me to bleed the brakes by myself.

If you are not installing rear disc brakes, there is no reason to go through the trouble of fabricating a mounting point/bracket and fabricating new fluid lines to install an adjustable proportioning valve in your current stock braking system.


Install your new brake master cylinder, bleed your brakes and be done with the job.


In the 20+ years that I have been working on Land Cruisers, I have not ever replaced that component due to failure in a stock brake system.

I am keeping the rear drum brakes, so are you saying to keep the existing valve or are you saying I do not need the valve at all?
