I blew up the radiator in my 90 series. I would like to perform a compression test to determine the cause. How can I go about doing this on a diesel engine?

Thanks!

Do you need to perform a compression test? If the radiators old, it's probably just done it's time and needs replacing, along with the rest of the cooling system components for good measure.

But to answer your question, see the attached pics from my workshop manual:

(Apologies if they appear in the wrong order, just follow the numbering in the pics)

The car no longer turns over. I am wondering if it could be a cracked head. radiator blew up on me out of nowhere and then engine shut off.

What happened with the compression test? Might have to pull some codes and see what's going on there?

I had the same thing happen but engine still started and ran with a cracked head. Their was coolant getting into the cylinders and blowing heaps of white smoke, but only noticable once then engine warmed up. Otherwise it idled quite normal. Their was a noticable sweet smell coming out the exhaust from the coolant burning.
