if you're new to working on you rig... every maintenance job can seem tough so here is a write up and video that shows just how easy it can be to change out your own engine and cabin air filters.

Great write up, I just passed 8k miles and I'm sure my cabin filter has the whole desert in it. :\

Great write up...but...a couple of things you failed to mention. Toyota nicks you pretty good for the cabin air filter...About $38.00 at my dealer!! Since it is not too critical to the operation of the vehicle other than to keep the heater & A/C clean, I suggest blowing out the dust with compressed air periodically. Also, I added a 'Bounce' fabric softener..static cling remover sheet over the top to catch some of the bigger chunks, plus it gives a bit of a 'fresh laundry' smell to the inside of the truck. Gonna look into getting a 3M filtrite household filter and see if I can cut one down to fit. Looks like about the same type of material. I know this might sound like heresy to some, but I'm cheap and the filter just doesn't look like $38 to me.

This is great info! 2007 FJ Cruiser for driving and passing on to my son (when he's old enough)/1978 FJ40 for fun and fixin'.
Thanks!
