Well I have to bite the bullet and sell my cruiser. It is an 86 HJ61 5 speed, lockers, full float,Pto winch all the goodies with a 2 inch lift and 33s. There is some rust around the wheel wells but not enough that a little work could not get rid of. Has 212,000 km runs awesome has had a bunch of mechanical work done to it. What do you all think I could get for it. Living in vancouver

I would think (hope) 10-12k.

Depends on how quick you wanna sell.

I'd say put it for 12000 obo, see if you get any hits!

take nice pictures 4 exterior 1 or 2 interior and 1 under the hood! and a good description!

a picture is worth a thousand words!

the market for diesel land cruisers and espec the RHD is dry right now unless you want to give them away.
i would wait awhile...

is that the one from regina for 6500.00

Nope it has been mine since 2003.

I hear what you are saying crushers, I really am in no rush to sell it. I have already purchased a new vehicle and this one is just not getting driven. I really like the truck but it has just become not the right truck for me and the family. Used it to drive to and from the cabin when the kids were young but now their getting older we are having trouble with space even when towing a moderately sized trailer plus we now have quads and find I am using it less and less for what it was meant for.

I would think $10-12k as well to the right buyer. The 5 speed with lockers is def desirable. I looked for mine for quite awhile. I've seen the diffs/cable locking mechanisms selling for $3500 by themselves. The importers really can't get them anymore so whatever exists in Canada right now is it pretty much it

I would hang on to it for bit until the economy picks up if that's worthwhile for a couple grand.

To play the devil's advocate: if you wait for a "better" price, you will be competing with more of these rigs that I suspect may flood the US market as the rolling 25-year exemption comes due in the next few years (for US market, anyhow).

It's kind of like selling a house in today's market: price it aggressively and it will sell. Wait for a better price, and you'll be competing against other sellers also holding out for a "better" price.

6-8k, 10-12k - who knows. I don't think the US economy is going to bounce back in a year or two, I think we are in for some tough times for the foreseeable future, IMO. People simply will not have the discretionary funds to purchase as many toys. Depends on how long you want to wait it out.

Good luck either way! Post some pics, everyone loves a little Cruiser porn, right?

I agree, the U.S. IS IN FOR TOUGH TIMES FOR YEARS to come there is no money for new toys.If its not being used cruisers dont like to sit around. Sell and use the money for what ever you can get . 2 cents MIke

I dunno. He won't be competing with more sellers, that number is pretty stable. Said differently, he will be waiting for more buyers. The buyer to seller ratio is what moves prices, and I think there is a greater chance to find buyers after a few years when people get tired of being fearful about their finances.

That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

Good point.. but already 3 years ago the supply of decent JDM HJ61/BJ74 etc really started to dry up, especially ones with 5 spd and lockers. I am fairly confident there won't be any flooding going on, at least not from Japan. JDMs that are already in Canada may create some activity.. but I don't think there will
be enough of em to flood the US market and push prices down too much.
Time will tell.

In Canada, there have been quite a few Fad buyers, ie " Wow a diesel landcruiser I have to have it , the Guy brings it home and the wife says get a rid of it or else I am gone. Bingo his double locked 74 is for sale the next day dirt cheap. That started bringing the prices down before the economy did in this part of Canada. Any how, I peronally know of 7 stories like this.
I am sort-of in the market for a machine like yours BURGER, good luck I hope you get what you are asking. Remember PRESENTATION is everything when it comes to selling

The question I always ask myself is if a buyer has cash in fist then what's it worth to you to let it go?

Good luck with the sale!
