How Much should I sell my 2006 Land Cruiser for?

Probably off MSRP, but MSRP is likely around $60K on a '06, as they all pretty much come loaded. $45K sounds like a steal, especially if the 08 LC isn't sold here and Toyota forces everyone to buy the LX570 for $80K like they've done in Canada since '98.

All the 06's I looked at were MSRP at $63-65K, they all had about every option you could put on them, most of the options no one wanted.

Thanks for all the great responses. Very helpful and good food for thought indeed.

Yes, as one of you mentioned...I did get the LC on a great deal.

I am working on my GF with respect to looking on Swap-A-Lease for a short term deal on a convertible....so she can get it out of her system. She likes that idea.

Also, I did get solid interest on my 2007 Infiniti M-45 from my Swap-A-Lease ad....and I would much prefer to get rid of that.
Typically, I never lease vehicles...the last one I leased was like 20 years ago....because I want out when I want out. I leased the Infiniti because it was only a 21 month deal. However, even that is too long for me to won a car ... and I will never do that again.

If I do decide to sell this, I think I will post the vehicle for sale with the 7 year / 100K mile warranty for 54k....and see what happens. If I sell it, .... I will probably just end up buying a 2008 50th Anniversary model for myself anyway. I really can't bear the thought of not having at least one late model cruiser in my driveway.

Hold on 1st post says wife last says gf? Which one is it

lol gf or wife? lol

GF / Wife - Very funny... she is my GF but we have lived together for so long now she is pratically a common law wife...or at least I consider her like a wife. However, like a business associate said "Trust me, it is not the same" ... and he believe him. Difference is, I can split anytime without her taking half of what I own...:)

If it were me, I'd let her lease her own convertible and keep the LC. And if she takes a hike, get a pooch...more loyal, and doesn't care if your driving a LC, convertible, or VW beetle! lol

$54K is steep for a '06. For that much, you can probably get a new '07. I'd expect more like $45K for a '06 LC, $50K for a '06 LX (then subtract ~$5K per year after that).

I've been looking. New '07's are out there for under $54K. I'd like an 06 or 07 and swap all my bumpers too it (paint match of course). It would never see the trail. Then, I'd cut Roklimo up into a wild wheeler.

I'm thinking about the opposite.

A nice FJ40 could be a lot of fun.

Funny, that is exactly what I discussed with her. I think she get bored with the convertible in a year or so...and I suggested she look at Swap-A-Lease. She can pick up a decent convertible with only twelve (12) months or less left on the Lease and a big incentive that makes it a bargain. This way she is in and out of the car quickly and can decide what she wants next.

54K for the LC equipped the way mine is cannot happen unless Toyota is running a rebate program. That is below cost. My Cruiser was fully loaded with a sticker of about 65k.

I don't care to live with any animals...but If she splits, it would be easy enough to get another GF ... one that likes driving a LC would be nice next time ... :)

The ad was 15k off MSRP. As for gas prices in Midland currently it seems to run about 5-10 cents more per gallon than most other areas of the state. At least it is ethanol free, for now.

The numbers work? Except that you can buy a crappy 35mpg car for less than $20,000....

My point is that the discounts offered because of the high gas prices can save you more than you'll spend on the higher priced gas.

I'm pretty sure I got mine for less than dealer cost. My understanding is that dealers commit to sales numbers in advance, and have issues if they don't make the committment. I definitely felt a "fire sale" mentality when I negotiated my price.

In fact, the dealer screwed up and when my car came in it had lexuslink and night vision, which I didn't want. I was going to walk, but they agreed to give me the more expensive vehicle at the originally agreed price.

Heads up: There are three real prices for a vehicle.
MSRP= Complete BS for highly desirable autos and the people with lots of disposible income.
Invoice= Price dealer wants you to believe they paid for the car.
Invoice- Hold Back.= true cost to dealer. a Hold back is a percentage up to 5%, but usually 2-3% of the invoice price. When the dealer sells the vehicle, it gets paid the hold back from the manufacturer. So the invoice price isn't really the cost at all. Depending on the dealership, some allow it to be paid to commision and some keep it, never even telling the sales reps. So a dealer can realistically sell a auto below invoice and still make money without all the other incentives and such. Fighting chance.com and edmunds usually have comprehensive lists of the holdbacks per vehicle.
